I just thought I would post a link to an excellent pdf about ON1's camera profiles which are included under the Tone & Color section of the Develop tab. This gives a good explanation which I found helpful and hopefully others will as well.

Hi Cathy,
I prepared a couple of camera-lens profiles in ON1 for my most used camera lens combinations - e.g. Pentax K1 - D FA85, K3 - DFA 150-450 etc.
I don't use them anymore as I found something better: Linear RAW!
If you select in ON1 Linear Raw as profile (last in the list) and you press the "auto" button (the right one), you will receive a perfect starting point for further processing. I like this better than my camera related profiles.
My process in ON1 works this way:
- Linear RAW
- Auto
- correction of sliders like exposure etc - I go through the entire field and also the color section with help of the histogram. Regarding the color, the perfect setting will sometimes bring curves into alignment in some parts.
- the AI noise redution processing where I reduce the parts that would add some sharpness like sharpening or removal of artefacts. I keep it plain to have a little soft image which is better for further post-processing.
- then the part with the specific tools where usage depends on the kind of photos I have.
One tool I always use is vignetting with big softie and a proper adjustment of the mask.
For my macro photos I like to add HDR as it adds some fine sharpness to the photo as well as better control of shading etc.
Next, I like to adjust the curves to make the photos a little bit more vivid regarding the contrast.
Also, Dynamic contrast is a nice effect. They have very good tools for color adjustment and if sun is missing you can also add sunshine to your photo.
The portrait section is nice and local changes have to be done from time to time. However, since I use Linear Raw I reach my target much quicker and with less sophisticated effects or masks. I can recommend this way!
I also have Denoise and Sharpening AIs from Topaz. The Denoise tool is my favorite last step, as it removes last sources of noise - and it adds some nice sharpness to the photo. It's the "eye candy" that finalizes my post-processing.

Very useful information Holger! thanks for this! I mostly use the Standard profile.But definitely try the flat linear one and apply auto as a starting point.
