It's a fine shot for sure, love that. Over the years I doubt I will get these again.

    Swallows:

Head flip. Seen it a couple of times, but the only time I've got a shot of it.

This one might be repeatable, not sure on that though

This one I doubt I'll get another one

More than likely those will be one off with the swallows. Taken thousands of swallow shot to get them so far.

Nice ones! How do you like the AF speed on the 7RM4?

Fantastic shots - this one in particular! I'd crop it a bit, but the shape of the water and position the bird is in, is just fantastic. Very well captured and quite impressive, that they're able to coordinate their bodies in this way...

It's an interesting one in that on the forums they tell me the A7RIV is far too slow for birds in flight. Some have issues and I don't, but then I also use different settings. I would get around 85% - 90% with the AF and for me it seems fast. I only own one AF lens and that's the 200-600. The rest are all manual focus teles and that's where it's taught me other things bedsides AF. Nothing beats the feel of MF.

So for manual focus over the years: www.birdsinaction.com/New-Zealand-birds

And the only AF tele I own: www.birdsinaction.com/Sony-A7RIV

So I'm a bit weird I guess. The A1 wasn't out when the A7RIV came out and I wanted the 61mp sensor for the cropping. AF was much better than what I thought it would be, but a lot of that comes down to the settings and I use different settings to most out there. If the AF wasn't up to scratch I would just plant on the MF teles anyway.

I don't have anything remotely close to birds in flight shots, but I'm sure this one was just too much of a coincidence to happen again 😅:

If you ever see me posting a shot like this or Danny's great images , I guarantee I have cheated and used AI 😀

Fwiw, it's most likely real and not AI generated.

Not quite as dramatic as that one but I'll be hard pressed to get another like this one when this crow came at me.

I color graded the sky in this version.

Interesting. Do you know if AI analyzed the image through its exif data or just the image itself?

I think all my shots are once-in-a-lifetime. None are duplicates (maybe a few).

Are they just asking for unusual or uncommon shots? This isn't that common:

Very nice shots! I remember trying to capture a couple of special night sky events as well, but I wasn‘t ever well prepared, so results were less than impressive… didn‘t lessen my fascination for things happening in space though.
