Guys, it's good for you to vent your feelings over here, but there's nothing we can do to expedite matters. So I think we should wind this thread down - it's not serving any useful purpose any more.

I won't close it, if you really want to express yourself, please do so. However, you may get a more constructive response over on DPReview. They are listening and do respond.

    Cheers

    Alan

    Hi,

Well, I noticed that griping over there leads to removal of said posts. And, as usual, removal of posters sometimes as well.

They don't wanna hear about it any more, I suppose.

Still the idiocy of some DPR moderators continues to amuse.

On the Nikon forum one of the Mods, or rather Man Child, received a revised estimate to repair a Z8. Three pages of ranting.

Of course my polite post advising him to act like an adult was removed. (but at least they did not ban me).

Well, the insanity of the mods over there was confirmed... On a whim, I tried to post my question about being volunteered for event photography over there too, and it was deleted by the mods. So it really is a forum that does not want to help people.

EDIT: I stand corrected, it was published, just took a lot longer.

I have to laugh. It is not like suggesting a mod grow up isn't rubbing salt into his wounds - self inflicted or not...

I think the moderators behaviour is one thing that the owners will be looking at. In the mean time, Hector, why not send a private message to Matthew or Dale over there asking politely why your message was deleted. If it was similar to the one we responded to over here, I can see no reason why it was deleted.

Even the Nikon guru Hogan tried to explain why he got a bigger quote. You must admit this guys behaviour in that post is pretty childish. There are 4 pages of ranting on the OP.

Yes, makes me wonder how some of the mods got their position...

On another note there have been some trolls appear in the m43 thread. New names, low post count, trashing anything Panasonic over trivial things that just don't matter. Nothing being done about them even though they were called out about it. I am slowly weaning myself off that site. Just no point being part of it.

Not all the mods, though. Rick Decker of the Sigma Camera Forum is an excellent mod, one of the best anywhere.

I will do that next time if it happens again, although frankly I never had a good reception over there from a lot of the users.

Has it changed? In the past, there seemed a lot of competition in DPR's forums to be the least agreeable person, even towards people who were simply asking questions about what camera or lens to get (everyone is a noob at some point, and photography is so vast in scope, but that doesn't mean the more seasoned people should act antagonistically towards them). Not everyone was like that (I still remember the conversations we had in PM, you introduced me to Langford's book and more) but it was extremely hard to filter out the negativity. As they say, it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

I have not had much time to spend out shooting over the past year or so (personal / family reasons), but the event photography reminded me of why I like taking photos. Normally, I spend my forum time between here and the photography subreddits on Reddit. I am not sure I have the patience to deal with DPR if it is like it was in the past.

I think the member who was complaining loudly about Nikon is also active here, and seems quite reasonable on this site.

I was cheesed off that my reply was removed. It was not rude, just rather frank.
