Felt more like Labor Day!
We visited our son, daughter-in-law, and grandson yesterday and they put us to work.
Will and I removed all the sod, built the brick wall (bricks glued together with landscape adhesive) filled it with bags of top soil and dug holes where the gals wanted to put plants. They planted other gardens until this was ready then stuck these plants in.
Yes, they need more plants, but this is a great start.
They're thirsty - let's get some water on them!
Meanwhile, our grandson, Devan made the day memorable by learning to ride his two wheeler. At the start he was using training wheels, and Granny suggested he could ride without them. He protested, but Will removed them and with a little help balancing to start, he rode a short way.
We all cheered which encouraged him and with another help starting he rode further. With several iterations of this, his protestations turned to laughter and shouting for joy. However, when he'd try to start on his own, he'd have trouble and would sit and whine that he wanted his training wheels back.
But with some encouragement while we worked, he kept trying and soon he was doing it on his own consistently. By dinner time we asked if he wanted his training wheels back on and he replied "No, those are for little kids!"
We're so glad we were there to witness this. In a week he finishes kindergarten. It's fun to see him growing up.
