Hello all.
Just wondering if it is possible on either of these cameras to assign zoom function to the buttons on the left side of the lens barrel. (wish they had a zoom rocker there like the FZ300). Thanks!

See pages 41 and 54 in the .PDF manual. You can change the manual focus ring on the barrel to zoom or manual focus. Since there's a zoom function on the barrel itself no need for the FZ300s zoom rocker.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I've read that section of the manual and that doesn't really help. I'm specifically trying to figure out if the buttons can be re-assigned to zoom. I need to be able to just use my thumb for zooming, while supporting the camera with the fingers of my left hand (arthritis issues).

Hi I don't think you can but have you tried the circle on the lens barrel? I think you can move it one handedly, it's pretty sensitive though. I also think there is some way you can lock focus and return to that focus point but maybe John could help there? Like you can set the camera up to start 25 ft away from you or something. I'm a little lost without my friends at the DPR review but I remember something like that. Good luck!
