A nice little camera. I bought it in 2019/8 together with 14-45 f/3.5-5.6 (never regret it) and 45-200 f/4-5.6 mk-I. I was more conservative at that time, so got a black model.

When I moved from film to digital, my age put size and weight high on my list, so the Nikon D60, D70 where skipped at that time despite I am a Nikon shooter since early 80s. The Lecia had led me to try Panasonic LC5, then upgraded to a few superzoom compacts, finally G1 since I am a ILC guy. Due to the shortage of native lenses at that time, adapted a few vintage Nikon film lenses. Very happy with the improved Live View shooting system which has changed my style of shooting since then.

There were a few new releases: GF1, the newer Gs, then the GX1. I kept using G1 until accident happened. Service center suggested me that my G1 could die any time (unexpectedly after the accident happened in 2013, G1 is still doing good today! What a camera). As I was heading to another trip very soon, got a GF3 by the insurance compensation money. Not happy with no evf, very quickly got a GX1 and the LVF2. Oh dear, I realized the time of G1 had gone.

A couple of years ago took it out from storage found the internal battery died. Fortunately after putting in a charged battery for 1~2 months (I have a habit of keeping an old model on my desk), the internal battery was recharged again. Since then no longer follow the usual instruction I keep a battery to every camera (idle or not).

    😍

I came close to owning one .. when moving back to a system camera it was a toss up between the Panny G1 and the Oly E-520 .. I really thought the G1 the better idea but it was version 1.0 and I have an aversion to buying 1.0 anything. That and reading the Oly forum on DPR convinced me to go to the 520!! .... But I later bought the G2 . ... and the G5 .... enjoyed using both for many years but both gone now ....

    1st mirrorless the Lumix G1 (2008)

I wanted to know how the very first ML, the Panasonic Lumix G1, would react to the new Fujifilm X-T5.

That was the combination I bought, too! I still have a G1, since modified for IR/full spectrum work:

This was my very first mirrorless. I took a ton of photos with it around Derbyshire, specifically on a trip to the stunning area around Castleton.

I remember the file quality being really high and the focus infinitely better than my Kx, but the output was rather muted and definitely needed pp to shine. In contrast, the Kx images were usually very nice straight out of the camera.

It was a joy to use! I guess it's time to dig up those Castleton photos and see what I can get out of them!
