I've noticed that now that there are other weekly/monthly photo threads, that this competition doesn't get much attention. So, unless you really want it to continue, I will stop it here.
I would still like to post pictures on our web site. So, if the competition finishes, I will select pictures I like, ask the author if it's OK to post them and, if so, will update the web site that way.

I dont follow the logic of your reasoning for stopping the competition, Alan. I do agree with Arvo's suggestion, since I think that people forget about the competition when it is extended for a month.
That said, I believe that the paucity of entries reflects the falling number of active members of the site, whereas we need to do everything in our power to attract more active members and build the community. Conversely, we need to remove support from destructive behaviour that discourages participation. In this regard, it is to our communal discredit that it has been necessary to consign so many threads to the dumpster over the past year or so. Doing so has not dealt with the continuing problem, but merely removed it from public display after leaving it to stand for a few days: allowing graffiti on the one hand and cleaning up the mess later. The underlying reason that has led to use of the dumpster needs to be acknowledged and addressed firmly, once and for all.

I am very very busy from now till Xmas. I have enough trouble keeping up with existing threads here. If someone else wants to start a weekly competition, I'll be happy to take the final result and post it on the web site.
