Hopefully someone can suggest a technique which will work with ICloud. When we're established, have a funding model and can afford a bigger server, we can increase the file size limit, sorry about that limitation.
It might be possible to include them direct from iCloud, using the 'image' item, if you have the URL.
What did you go with? I use apple photos too, I’ve been exporting them and resizing, but I don’t want to keep exporting and deleting, was considering flickr as it would be another back up I guess? did the iCloud URL work I haven’t tried that yet????
Nothing very technical I am afraid. I clicked on the download arrow which brought up my photo library, I clicked on the image but it told me it was too big. In the bottom right of the image it gives you the option to resize, I chose medium and was able to upload. However, the quality is very poor on the site so I will leave posting pictures for the moment. This is in no way a criticism of this site! I think it is a brilliant endeavour and I have nothing but praise! I can see it going from strength to strength.

Gary
i've found the quality good, once you click on the shot to make it the full size i see no difference to the original, i believe there is a 4mb file size limit, so if you need the site to redo the quality to reduce the file size you will see a loss of IQ, i did get a EXIF viewer for my browser however
Similar to what I've been doing with the export and resizing. I might give the link a go to see if there's any difference. And totally agree about the site, its just amazing how quickly they've brought it all together, and it's functionality for a site that's only a few days old and already 1000 members, is truly excellent :D do look forward to larger pics one day :D
Definitely the photos do look a lot better when clicked! Intrigued to know more about the EXIF viewer plug in you mention? does it just show the data on rollover?
it is called Exify for google chrome, it shows the exif only when you click on the picture and get the original though for this site, it shows the data on rollover yes
PC user: A function of ‘FastStone Image Viewer’ – for those not familiar with one of the capabilities: -
• Locate amongst your picture folders, the image you wish to post to the forum. If you are opening with FastStone, then pressing the ‘C’ key, will enable you to copy it to the PC desktop so that any resizing or image manipulation does not alter the original.
• Here is a sample image where the original is 25.5MB. This was reduced to a 3840x2160 pixel file down to 3.5MB for posting here. It still filled the screen of my 27” monitor, with an impressive result.
• The option ‘Add border effect’, will look striking, when we get the ‘Dark Theme’ enabled.
• The option ‘Keep EXIF data’ will show if others viewing your image, drag and drop it to their PC Desktop to view in FastStone.
• Try the above settings. I am sure it will work for you. A huge image file will be drastically reduced with still a rewarding outcome.
• Finally, select ‘Copy to Folder’, for the following window.
• If you are OK with the option to replace the desktop image you are working with (bearing in mind you still have the original) then go with it. Otherwise, you have both files with the option ‘Rename’.
Hope the above has some value to you.
