Sorry - a dislike button will lead to food fights. As my wise grandmother used to say if you can't say something nice - keep your mouth shut. It is the moderators job to address questionable content. If you don't want to read something - ignore it.
That was done on dpreview some years ago and was abandoned because too often groups of members would 'dislike' perfectly factual and within rules posts because they didn't agree with them.
Some forums have buttons like thumbs up, heart, laugh, and a cup which would be great. The laughing emoji and the cup can be interpreted in both ways, but they have a positive connotation.
That is exactly what occurred. I had a few trolls stalking me at one point and seconds after every post…even a verifiable test, 3 dislikes would show up, virtually without fail. I considered it a badge of honour…but it got horribly abused.
I read all of the replies to my "request" and I now have to agree with those who do not want a "Dislike" option. I would never abuse such an option, so it did not immediately occur to me that others might.
In past Misago posts had "Like" and "Dislike" buttons but people would frequently make threads heated when their posts were disliked, so this option was deleted.
In future I am considering removing likes and putting discord reactions in their place. So forum admins would be able to specify custom reactions like "thumbs up", "love", "haha", etc. ect.
