I say there are not enough serious comparisons of R5 vs R50 out there! How does one know which one to get!? 😀

Well, this isn't a serious comparison either... I encountered a semi cooperative lizard and took a few shots with the R5 and R50, using the RF 24-240. For entertainment value only, here they are.

The photos are not scaled down, so you can pixel peep if you wish. But I am noticing that the "1:1" button when viewing images isn't actually giving me full pixels. Not sure what's up with that. Doing "Open" then zooming in worked, at least for me...

These two shots are both at 75cm, at 240mm. Both cropped slightly, the same percentage, so you can see the 1.6 "reach" of the R50 come thru. The exposure values are slightly different.

    230421-181944 Canon EOS R50 ISO 800 240 mm 1-160 sec at f - 6.3.jpg

The shots do have some noise, but the "noise" on the lizards chin seems to be natural texture.

Two others, also at 240mm. These cropped "to taste":

And a final one, with the R50:

    Nice!
Very sharp where it has to be. Eye AF clearly worked.
    Kindest regards,

They are very nice, and again it shows actually how well the 24-240 performs on APS-c and FF.
Do love ours to but my better half does use it everytime 😁

Thanks! Indeed, and the R50 was doing better than the R5 here.

It is a nice lens. A bit too large for the R50, but works well.

Hmm, time for a second one?

I have thought about that, it might happen but for now I will use our RF 24-105L 😉
