A really great set of birds. You have got to grips with this lens very quickly. The winner has to be the bee-eater eating a bee.
Thanks Nigel. It isn't easy and I can't imagine using a heavier lens without some form of support. My arms got a bit tired yesterday after an hour or two. Body and lens is only 1.5kg but that's enough trying to hold still for longer periods.
There is a story to that shot and unfortunately I can't claim to have captured the bird catching his dinner. I was using pre-burst to try and get some in flight. He took off to catch that bee and flew back to the same spot so I half pressed again. They bash the insect against the wood to stun it, and then, like a lot of animals, he threw it up in the air for a bit fun. I saw it happen in the viewfinder so was quietly hoping the camera got it - was just one frame...
