The raw image file doesn't "look" like anything (except strings of code) until it's been processed into a viewable image.

Neither does JPEG, or even TIFF.

Naturally. When those are displayed they generally are not claimed to be "raw" as opposed to processed images, as was the case in the post to which I replied which compared one image as "processed" to another image labeled as "raw".

Lossy compressed files are not even close to raw. It's either lossy, or raw.

Your program opens them so they must be raw and so does ACR

That's pretty dumb logic because ACR also opens jpeg files, so if your logic applies to all situations then jpeg files must also be raw files.

    ah drrrrrrrrrrr..... automatically 🙄

wait for it your quote : Lossy compressed files are not even close to raw. It's either lossy, or raw.

Yeah, but those are indeed ”image” files. A RAW file is fundamentally different and that’s clearly the point (an important one) that some people are trying to make - that, unlike a jpeg, if an image from a raw file looks a particular way in your editor, it is the processing applied by the that editor that is primarily responsible. The RAW file itself really only represents a potential image to be. Seems like a distinction that shouldn’t just be swept under the rug.

Interesting that many were able to see the problems with lossy and forced Sony to add lossless compression.

TBF, it does depend on the image how apparent the problems are.

Well, I'm happy to see you finally see the potential benefits raw histograms can provide. Your own histograms show that.

Your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to learn how to use the post editor properly and fix your stuff ups.

a lolly pop to the first person that can show how the histogram is related to the image i posted. in 1 sentence, and how they arrived at there conclusion.

i will drop a hint. open many images . mine was easy with opening only 2 . this one and the other one. and i didnt move the EV0 point.

may the best person win 😎

But it's the engineers who really know what they are talking about and how things work properly, not the marketing people. Marketing people tend to dumb things down, even to the point where it is not technically correct, for 'mum and dad' photographers.
