Just returned from a couple of weeks in Peru. Lots of photos to post in the coming days/weeks
Just some observations on the number of real cameras (as opposed to Phones)
Around 5-10% of tourists seem to be touting cameras. The rest were taking (obsesively) photos of the themselves blocking out beautiful views (selfies)
Saw 3 Lumix M4/3s on one of the trains. Quite a lot of Nikons. Several older Canons, one with a massive zoom in camouflage colours and by far the most were Sony's both APSC and FF
TBH I was quite surprised how many cameras I saw. Much more than in recent trips around Europe

Well, to be fair, if the purpose of your photography is to say, "Hey look! I was here, and this photo proves it!" then a phone is not merely all you need, it's the best tool for the job. Interesting that all the Canon cameras you saw were "older" -- I take that to mean DSLRs, not mirrorless. To be honest, I'm not surprised Sony dominated -- what surprises me is that they aren't the market leader, and market leader by far.
