A nice set WN. I particularly like one and three.

Looking at these for some reason has triggered in what is left of my brain a question of how birds' brains interpret what they see. Like many other creatures they have eyes located on opposing sides of their faces. This should give them better peripheral vision. On the other hand the amount of overlap seen by the two eyes must be less and that should impact their depth perception for things not straight ahead. Owls have flatter 'faces' and do not fall into this category though.

    I need another coffee!

Nice selection of birds WN. I agree with Andrew, #1 & #3 seem the best captures.

maybe you or Andrew could elaborate on why 1 & 3 are better than the others? Composition of some sort, lighting, apparent sharpness????

    Andrew

I suspect there are more than a few PhDs being handed out for these studies ... BTW there are also similar discussions of Dragonfly vision and probably a few other assorted animals and insects .. certainly snakes !! ...

Thanks for stopping by and the comment, David ... much appreciated ..( I need to go through the files for another Canon picture) .... and not sure he's grumpy as much as just old and tired of feeding another batch of young ones that he'll just chase off in a few days ...
