More from the iris/peony display at Laking gardens a couple of weeks back. I have many more. Our day lilies have started to bloom as well as the goats' beard and hydrangeas. I have not shot any of those yet this year. Either sweltering or raining. Oh, and the deer flies and mosquitos are bad too!

A great result Andrew, I love the intense colours. I hope you and the Boss are recovering well. Many years ago my sister smashed her elbow and got a titanium replacement but she had a bad reaction to the titanium and the joint was replaced by a trouble free plastic one.

Thanks Dicky. My wife will have to see a specialist to determine if the issue with the knee is a reaction to the metal. That would mean another knee replacement which is ceramic coated.

I like what you're doing with the dark backgrounds, Andrew. I imagine you are using the lighten/darken center tool. It works nicely. I will be using that. I like the last one with the irises appearing to float in the dark with little visible means of support, but just enough to make it look real. And the third where the iris appears to be throttling itself. I remember the bad old film days when I would shoot up close with strobe to get the dark backgrounds. Strobe would only synch with shutter at 1/60 and it was hard to get the aperture I'd have liked. Photography is sure sweet now !

I have spent the last couple of weeks looking at full frame cameras and lenses. I'm gonna spend it on something. Maybe a big down on a car and small payments. Maybe Hawaii and The South Pacific for a month. Maybe a full frame camera and a few lenses. The new Nikon Z9 mirrorless flagship has no mechanical shutter ! It also has a stacked BSI sensor of 45 MP. Along with a Nikkor Z 180-600 and a 24-200, and a teleconverter and 2 CF cards. That would be some heavy kit and would also kill the Hell out of ten grand. I'd have enough left for the hernia surgery necessary after carrying that kit. You just never know. Rich

Nikon Z8 is what I have been considering. No hernia surgery required if I go lens less! 😀😁

Lovely blossoms, well photographed and processed Andrew.
I'm not considering any new camera gear.
I dream of the 150-400 but I'm happy with what I have and just need to use it better and more.

An enjoyable set. Andrew ... I like to photograph and see photographs of peonies ... ours are late April as I recall and the local Botanical Garden usually has a very nice Peony garden display but I think they are still recovering from the pandemic days and are having to find some new volunteers to bring their expertise and tend these gardens .... I got over on a couple days when the few they had this year were still in bloom ...

I will probably be busy the rest of this week and the coming week so shouldn't be here except to glance through what's new ... Probably wont post anything or reply to posts for the rest of this week ....

    Thanks Jim.

The truth is at the moment I am more interested in a new pair of speakers than a new camera. I don't have any real complaints about my photographic equipment choices. It is not like I print or sell anything so ....

Thanks WN. A fine image of a lovely blossom. I like peonies but the season for them is relatively short. The varieties we planted at least bloom at slightly different times so we generally have blooms for about three weeks, perhaps more if there are no heavy rains.
