Yesterday our photo club had an outing, at Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, IL. I like the simplicity and versatility of the RX10.

I’ve shot the Japanese Gardens in Portland, OR many times. It’s impossible to take a bad shot, but very difficult, I think, to take a fantastic shot, like a shot you’d spend $100 to print, mount, and out on your wall.

Are you really shooting a 1" sensor at f/16? I'd have thought that will sacrifice a lot of image quality to diffraction. Probably best to keep the aperture wide open or one stop down at most. f/4 is all you need for front to back depth of field.

I stopped down to f/16 for the waterfall shots to register some water motion, but then got into a conversation with another club member en route to the next scenes, and forgot to open it back up. Senior moments, I guess. 5.6 is probably the best aperture for a 1" sensor.

You can also see some f/8 here. I was using that for closeups of blooms, so as not to lose sharpness in the clusters. But apparently I forgot to change that, too. It's getting to be time to use more automation and scene programs. I've been at this for over fifty years, and my aging brain is showing.

    Thanks, for the helpful tips.
