I used a custom white balance with my SD14 and had no issues with the greenish tint on my images. Before the CWB I had a bear of the time getting clean files.
I guess I got a similar result back in 2008 after 3 frustrating months with the SD14.
The first image above was shot with a sunlight white balance and the second (using an expodisc) CWB.
The difference is amazing1
Hi Ted: Glad to see you made it over here. A little note: I made a custom white balance just once (at about 10AM)
on the SD14 with the expodisc and used that CWB setting for all my shooting there after. The WB was not perfect on
all the shots, but close enough that they only required a minor WB correction on a small number of images made outdoors.
The SD14 became a gem after that change. ;>)
I just compared two blue sky shots in the GIMP: one from an original DP2; the other an SD14. Not a real good comparison - different days, times, settings, etc.
Still, the Signal-to-Noise Ratios for the blue channel were significantly different: 57 DP2 vs. 180 SD14 !!
I imagine that the said significant difference can only be in the processing (not the post-processing) because the sensors are the same, . In other words, if I were to compare the blue layer raw images they would not be so different.
