I’m quite saddened to learn that Salgado has passed away. I attended his talk at the Sony Photography Awards last April, and he was a real inspiration to me, not just for his photography, but also for his efforts to make the world a better place.
He was one of the last monumentally brilliant photographers, who's fame lasted more than a summer, which is now mostly the case in the photographic art world. His printing style was not to my liking, but I recognise his genius.
It is interesting to hear these famous photographers lecture. I have listened to Michael Kenna and Don McCullin, and they were both refreshingly devoid of "artspeak"
