I'm reading the above again and am wondering if Sigma's "integration time" in SS mode is the post-exposure scanning time plus the exposure time - a clue being that it is almost the same as "shutter speed" at low shutter speeds and greatly different at high shutter speeds. So it could well be that integration time is shutter speed plus scan time and that would explain the difference from sync speed too because scan time has nothing to do with shutter speed.

1/66 sec scan time may seem slow to some but the Foveon F7 sensor has three layers to scan and the CPU is a FPGA, not a dedicated speedy ASIC.

    This subthread is quite off-topic.

It's a subthread about the meaning of an EXIF tag on a Sigma SD9, AFAICT.

The main thread is about expected, implemented, and desirable shutter speeds, and why they might be different (independent of any particular camera platform).

Would it be OK with you if this subthread were moved to "Sigma Camera Talk" ?

I don't exactly know how moving subthreads works round here, but it's evidently possible.

Would you like to suggest a title for a moved thread ?

And also a Kodak and another. I quoted the Sigma as an example because I own one.

I used this thread because I shot something at 1/6000 sec, and an app told me the exposure was 1/66 sec, not the expected 1/6000 sec.

Sure, I'm done with it anyway.

Not particularly, I'll leave it up to yourself or the mover.

Per the title, I estimate my curtain speed as about 2.9 m/s and the 'sync' exposure time as 5.6 ms. 😉
