I came across these three having a bit of a snooze mid-afternoon while walking around some back lanes in a small country town (can't recall the name but near Wuxi, China) while my wife was meeting up with a few of her friends.
I was glad the clicking of my camera's shutter didn't startle them because they appeared to be workers in the cafe/restaurant behind them 🙂

The image processing? I think the pic speaks for itself and it is not necessary to "help" the observer in such a marked way...
This is the color version.
They both tell a story to me, just in different ways.
Really well spotted and a great capture! 👍 I think the B&W works fine. I'd half the spotlights on the people or the darkening of the rest - I suspect that might easily do the trick.

I used a 50% grey filled layer in overlay blend mode to dodge and burn the B&W to create the "spot lights" on the 3 people so it is very easy to adjust the look.
The image on my screen looks how I like it atm but one day I might tinker with it a bit more to see if I can come up with something else.

Nice catch, a beautiful capture I think BW suits better but I would not go an obvious PPing to highlight individuals

Great capture! I like the B&W version best. I personally like the way you lightened the people, if they were darker I think they would blend into the rest of the photo.

I totally agree. Not highlighting the 3 people results in them blending into the background too much for my liking.
