This was also my first DSLR. With some practice, I got good images from it - but it underlines the importance of RAW. I can re-process the images in modern software and get better results than I could obtain from Sigma Photo Pro, though that seemed miraculous after darkroom processing colour prints!

Was the SD9 battery grip the same as the SD10 one, and how many batteries did it hold. I have an SD9 & SD10 but never saw the grip for them.

    Hello S,

The SD9 inherited two camera batteries in the grip, presumably from the SA-9, and got four AAs added in the carrier on the underside. The SD10 kept the carrier but lost the two in the grip.

Oops. misunderstood your question ... Marc's response applies mo' better.

What modern software are you talking about?

My Battery Grip holds eight AA batteries, I have no idea for the compatibility for the SD10, the information is probably easy to find on Google

Last time I fired up my SD9 and SD10 (last summer) the SPP version I used (I think it was SPP6.8.2) worked fine with the SD9/10 RAWs. Tomorrow I'll pull up some old RAWs from my external HD and check them out again with SPP6.8.2.

I have an album of SD9 and SD10 photos I took around 2008 on Flickr (scroll way down in my album list). I didn't list the SPP version I used to process them, something I do now with my photos.

Comparisons made with the Sigma SD-9

How does the Sigma SD-9 compare with its direct competitors?

It's interesting to see the samples from the first camera with a Foveon sensor and the latest camera with a Foveon sensor. The photos of the house shocked me a bit. The color of the shutters is SO different.

This makes me want to get an SD9 (and an SD10), just to see what they are like. I'm sure I can sell it/them for about what I pay to buy it/them. I've been considering making a website about Sigma cameras, and that would be a good start, I guess. I'd have to shoot the photos with my SD Quattro H though.

    ;)

A whopping 25 degrees of differecet in hue according to my screen color-picker, the H at 350 and the SD9 at 15 !

You might prefer the SD10 Scott. Less batteries to worry about and "better" color.
