Shouldn't take as long as the last one!

There will be a few more upcoming. It's the price of success. This one is for a software upgrade. This site has grown much faster than expected, with the result that we might exceed server capacity in a few days time. Therefore we will need to migrate to a (much) larger and (much) faster server soon, which will mean taking the site down for a while. The upside is that it means that we might be able to allow larger image uploads.
Also going faster than expected is software upgrades. These usually involve at least a restart to activate, sometimes more. We'll try as much as possible to consolidate these different operations into as few down times as possible.
The point is, please be on the look out for service interruption announcements.

Yes, went OK. Takes a bit long to do, some changes should make updates quicker in future, some seamless.

Maybe it's been mentioned on another thread but I haven't read all the forum ;-) How are you financing this at the moment? Or how do you plan to (at least) cover costs and work involved in the long run?

At the moment I'm personally financing it. which is why it's a little server. We have been donated a nice big server, so will be moving to that. Going forward we'll be funded by donations, membership fees for the Foundation that will run the site and maybe a bit of advertising. The development work is being done by volunteers. Overall, with a membership of several thousand, we should be able to raise enough to cover running costs.
