I agree, but I only wanted to see the effect, because even my family members don’t know what DP stands for.

Don’t worry, the honest opinion is appreciated.

But, it is not a mix of font styles, different sizes yes; I used Helvetica by the way. The abbreviation of DPReview is most commonly ‘DPR’, this would also happen with DPRevived, I presume. Therefore - I think - revived should be written in lower case. But then it ends with a ‘d’ that has a pole sticking out. So, I have put the ‘d’ in upper case [ ‘D’ ], and resized it. Also by putting it in oblique [ ‘D’ ] gives a twist that someone can read it as ‘revive’ and / or ‘revived’ at the same time. Just thinking out loud, and English is not my native language.

‘DPrev’ definitely doesn’t cut it for me. Now your twist to see it as ‘dpREV’ is visual way better, but for most (new) people it would not be clear, REV… what REV? Revolution? But if people don’t like ‘revived’ then maybe ‘evolved’ could be an option.

My final thought is that some discussion on this theme, will yield better end results.

You may find this hard to believe, but my employers (a prestigious British university) blocked “DPR” on suspicion of it being pornography - and it took me early a year to get the block removed. The lesson seems to be that anything beginning’DP’ might be problematic for anyone wishing to read the site whilst at work.

Mixing fonts is BAD, this is one of the first lessons in design school.

Still think DPRevived is 100% a better name than any of those suggested so far. “DPEvolved” does not trip off the tongue at all, and sounds super up itself, lacking all the wordplay of the former.

Maybe it's a British thing, or maybe I've led a cloistered life, but I'm afraid I don't get the connection between "DP" and porn.

    Care to elaborate?

I’d say to google it, but probably a bad idea 😂

Okay, thanks -- I see a couple of candidates for porn references scrolling through there. So I'll now consider myself 'edumacated' on the subject! : o

That's a good example for demonstrating that "DP" is not particularly associated with "digital photography" - instead, it could mean anything, such as DisplayPort. Top Google search results will tell you it means Display Picture on social media. Probably only DPReview uses it for digital photography (to make their domain name short), and for that reason, any direct successor to DPReview (or part of it) tends to use a "DP" or "DPR" prefix too.

Greg, maybe you have missed it, but in my reply to lefteye I already mentioned that I have used only one font (Helvetica), but with variable sizes and a play with lower case and upper case letters, color, etcetera.

I state once again that English is not my native language, so if it sounds super up itself, I’m not able to judge.

The dictionary of macOS gives this definition (only the first part quoted):

    e·volve | əˈvôlv, əˈvälv |
    verb
1 develop gradually, especially from a simple to a more complex form: [no object] : the company has evolved into a major chemical manufacturer | the Gothic style evolved steadily and naturally from the Romanesque | [with object] : each school must evolve its own way of working.

I thought that we are trying to evolve with this new setup, and people like bobn2 have evolved quite some definitions - through intens discussions - at the former DPReview (evolved-evolve), (before and now present).

Anyway at DPReview I already posted that DPrevived sounded great to me. But now after a week some people start to question this name; I am only trying to make some other suggestions if other people don’t like DPrevived - which I still do. Personally for / to me DPevolved has a too strong connection to the Panasonic alkaline AA batteries, called Evolta (at least that’s how this line is called in Costa Rica).

Here I made a list what ‘REV’ could mean:

    review - reveal - revenue - revenge - revolution - revaluation - revamp - revel - reverberate - reverie - reversal - reverse - revert - revision - revitalize - revival - REVIVE(D) - revolt - revolve - reward - rewind - rewrite

Another twist could be: DPconversations, but probably too long. Or DPTalks… hmmm… too much like TEDtalks maybe. Anyway, what do I know

Some evolvement on the Logo still occurs (just showing options):

I kind of like the use of the green color; the blue line still reminds us at DPReview. (But the use of blue should be left behind?)
