Still working mostly DOF/focus and my position in the yard to take these ... That is I'm trying to keep the bird in that acceptable DOF range for a longer path ….. These six are the results of that ….

    Cardinal 2.jpg

    Mockingbird.jpg

    Red Breasted Woodpecker.jpg

All taken with the M1.2 and the O100-400mm lens ....

I had two sessions this morning yielding about 700 files from which I found about 50 acceptable or worth post processing .. from those I took what I thought were the best focus results and had 18 to work with and these were some of those ….. so I may show more of these or tomorrow have several more sessions and more files .. or maybe I'll go back to the files and change the subject next time I post ..

Great results WN. You're making great use of ProCapture and getting some beautiful wing displays. Nice variety of birds too. Nice to have a spot they all go to - guess the suet is working for you.

Thank you, Jim ... So far so god .. I seem to be able to anticipate a bit better .. each bird tends to leave the perch in its own way, I think .. However doing this seems to be triggering one of my problems (neck problem i think) to maybe a bit less in the future ... we'll see ...

An interesting group WN. Looking out our window I am not seeing as many birds as in other years. No idea why. Could be there are predators around that are keeping them away but I have not seen any.

Thnak you , Andrew .. . This forum seems to be slowing down a bit as summer gets close . ... Heat and my problems may reduce my time with the birds significantly .. we'll see .. I have the usual resident birds but so far not many tourists ... however insects are way down .. never see more than a couple bees. reduced mosquitoes has reduced the dragonflies .. haven't seen a praying mantis in the yard in a decade it seems ...Maybe I'll spend some time at the butterfly house at the Botanical Gardens .. they just released the butterflies this last weekend ... Hope you're feeling better and well enough to do some photography ...

You are getting very good at catching them in flight, WhyNot. I like the brown thrasher. You caught it with its mouth full. Rich

Thank you, Rich ... This may be the last long session I have with the birds as the heat (90F and humidity recent days) and the vertigo attacks that have also started to be tripped by these sessions will probably have me out in the yard a bit less ... hopefully back in the fall .. not sure how I'll get much more practice in I may have to do anything else from where I am now in the process and I'd like to try butterflies later in the year ...

Thank, Paul .. practice and patience .... and maybe a plan of attack .... is what I find works ... I actually bought the M1.2 thinking about the ProCapture and tried to use it several times as I would other added features of the camera and it never really worked out .... going at it as a learning process seems to be working out better ... Hope to see some of your work on this and to read how you're going about it ....
