That's great! I love the focusing and excellent inclusion of the background. And the colors are very effective as well of course.
Spectacular capture of an awesome subject. You did an excellent job with the focus stacking.
Thanks for sharing,

Thank you!
Dragonfly…
I am starting to see plenty of images on forums of Dragonflies from folks in the northern hemisphere. While it is great to see I can't help feeling I'm missing out given that it is winter here...
Doc may I ask about how much pp you apply to your coolpix shots? I always feel you could increase contrast somewhat for many of your pics.
I took the liberty of applying some pp here. Raised contrast a lot 75/100. Given the background, it was difficult to raise saturation to get some colour into the dragonfly but after dropping highlights 20/100 I was able to add some saturation without too much ill effect.
I still remember not long after I got my first camera posting a pic of a cat somewhere. Someone replied nice pic but you need to raise contrast and gave an example. The difference was night and day. I didn't know about pp then but it was a good lesson...
¡Hola Bryan!
Around here I have recently started to see odonates, dragonflies and damselflies, and I hope to have the opportunity to make some catches.
I shoot in raw format, so I always do some processing work. Depending on the topic, I am more or less conservative but, with bugs in particular, I try to achieve less processed, more natural images. Even if it is at the cost of losing some "punch".
On the other hand, we must consider that I work with an iPad, which has a screen that in itself is quite contrasty, so on other types of screens it is not unusual for my images to look a little more washed out.
For my taste, and on my screen, the image you have uploaded is a little beyond my comfort zone 😀

Yes it wasn't the best example and probably over cooked a bit.
Variation in displays isn't going to help us...

😇 Just to help you some....
