These photos are usually a disaster, because the background is so close and intrusive. So I took a chance and opened the aperture to its maximum, hoping to at least get his little eye in focus...

It's very interesting how some of these little guys camouflage themselves in their surroundings. Usually, if they're not moving, you don't even see them.

This one is a "Camponotus cruentatus", and it's one of the largest species we have around here (10-15 mm). They're just as nervous as the smaller ones, and focusing on a whole one is, for me, a matter of luck...Nice picture.👍
I only shoot in RAW in very difficult situations. Fine JPG is more than enough.

These little ants are very restless. I attracted them with a small drop of honey placed on the end of a thin broken twig, in the natural setting of a climbing plant, where I photographed them from a reasonable distance (a few centimeters) with a Sony a6300 camera, a 200mm telephoto lens, Kenko macro tubes and two overlapping Achromatic macro lenses.
I used f:16 to obtain an acceptable depth of field.
The lighting required a powerful off-camera flash and a small photo umbrella, with a light dome effect.Hola Bryan, good jaws, better not cross its path...
