When I got up this morning my wife showed me a bullseye mark on her leg from a tick bite. She removed the tick with tweezers. No doctors to be found in this country thanks to serious neglect of the health care system by politicians that don't know how to fix things. Health care here is a provincial responsibility with some funding from the federal government. Conservative governments here are right leaning and thus don't want to spend money. They also have no idea how to fix problems. In any case, we ended up driving to Hagersville Hospital emergency department tonight to see a doctor. In larger centres than where we live there are other options but out in the sticks the only real option for urgent medical attention is going to a hospital. Wait times at the emergency department in Simcoe, closer to us than Hagersville, are often ten hours or more. We spent less than 2 h in Hagersville so it ended up being a good choice, but not a fun way to spend a Saturday evening. Lime disease here is a serious issue and not something you want to have happen to you.
Everyone here that is not a politician knows from experience that the health care system is in crisis. The division of responsibilities between provincial and federal governments ends up in a lot of finger pointing but no answers.
I tried to get some flower images this morning but it was still too windy to stack and my back was too sore to bend low enough to get anything good so I gave up. Maybe tomorrow!
