    I'm a wildlife shooter so take this with a grain of salt. Looking good with what you have here Sandy, but maybe cropping them differently could be worth playing with. Maybe a bit more more space around the shots, thinking about the hands and feet mainly in being too close to the frame. If you really want good advise in here, Don takes some amazing shots of his daughters dance class and portraits of her. I'll make sure he sees this, if you want good advice and I'll tell him to keep it simple with not going overboard with the techie stuff 😉

    All the best and still a lot better than I could do.

    Danny.

    These were taken by my neighbour for my portfolio. It was a home studio setup. I know what you mean I think about the hands and feet in frame, they say that a lot when doing e-media stuff with publishing software.

    These are photos from a different set. I think they are more in frame.

    Yeah they are more in the frame. I'm no expert in this type of photography though .......... by a long shot! The first one however I would imagine might be improved at a more of a landscape format. But Like I said, what I know you could fit on a little fingernail when it comes to this. Your neighbor would know a heck of a lot more than I do.

    There is a portrait forum in here as well. That might be the best place to post them up Sandy. More experts in there ...... maybe.

    Good suggestion Nzmarco and thank you Alan for moving it to the right place. Hopefully will get some more good feedback in this section. This is from another home studio set;

    Sandy, I think you are trying far too hard at the moment with your age if I'm being honest. I took a look online and found this which I really like the look of .......

    Really nice natural poses IMO. All the best and don't give up, but maybe try more subtle ways of posing.

    One of the better ways to learn posing is to put together a set of images of poses that you like, then try to emulate those. I've only been posed by a professional photographer once in my life, and I found the communication very difficult. The photographer wanted me to place my body in ways that I thought were physically impossible (the gimp suit didn't help either) and couldn't conceive how they'd turn out as decent photos. To my mind, some of those poses are very nearly on, and could just have done with a little more direction from the photographer. One approach might be to play the photographer (maybe with a friend) and work out what different poses will look like. Or, if you work out how to tether your camera (you can do it with EOS Utility, which can be loaded from Canon for free) and look at your poses on the computer screen.

    After a while it becomes natural what type of poses to do so you don't need to communicate that much. I definitely understand what you mean about the awkward setup especially if you're not used to it.

    I'm planning on doing some outdoor sets again now the weather is nice. I'll try and take the in frame advice and apply it to the next set I do.

    This is a brighter set with a bright back drop and floor in the home studio. Is the skirt too dark for the photo exposure, should I have kept all clothing a light colour?

    Thank you Greg 😀 Pure white background screen probably would have worked better looking at your edit x

    I've only watched the first one but he explains very well the difference with soft and harsh background lights. I feel like getting into the studio now and doing a new set 😀.

    Another Cosplay set. I wasn't sure whether to post it here or in the Cosplay thread. I don't think I can post it in both.
