Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    A New Beginning!

@palin0 's "A Cozy Spot" exemplifies the kind of place the Sunday Cat! wants to be. :D (Reposted from original post with permission)

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Thread Manager's Corner:
And now we continue the adventure known as the Sunday Cat! Having already used three of its nine lives, I hope the remaining six will not need to be tapped at DPRevived. While I start the thread with an opening post, the Sunday Cat! is given life by the community. Let's begin that journey.

Since we don't (yet) have threading like we did at DPR, I suggest that if you want to comment on a photo or a comment, hit the reply button within post that you are commenting about. If you want to eliminate some of the text or photo that's quoted, just delete from the reply what you don't need. However, make sure that the open quote tag enclosed in brackets [ ] is not removed: (left square bracket)quote="@ the poster's handle"(right square bracket) as well as the similarly bracketed closing quote tag: (left square bracket)/quote(right square bracket). Then it will be clear who and what you are commenting on (I hope!) If you want to post a new image, simply start with the reply button at the very top. Note that the image size limit here is 4M so be kind. :)

Thank you for not letting the loss of DPR keep us from seeing more of the street cats of Istanbul. Every portrait, like this one, is a gem. :)

    Memories of Harry

    I haven't been cat sitting and won't until later this year so I'm reaching back to June 2012 to remember the Maine Coon cat Harry ;;;;

    Harry 2012.jpg

If this is acceptable I may bring back him and some of his friends .. Not sure that they ever made an appearance here but possibly!! ??

    WhyNot

I think this may look better from the file on my monitor ... but then .....
Yeah .. I'm not impressed with how harry has become a bit blurred when move here!!! .... Maybe another forum problem I hadn't noticed before!!??

As the boiler plate says, images from any time, any place are welcome. When I was going through the Sunday Cat! threads from day 1, I did see that you posted quite a bit way, way back, but I guess those were in your gallery, so once removed there was nothing to see anymore. But here, we have a new beginning. The old becomes new again and any photo posted at DPR has never been here before so it's all good! :)

On my monitor, Harry looks pretty detailed, but that's when I click through to to the original image. I think we get a large thumbnail on this page.

I didn't look at the full version ..... and I wonder if we can expect/ask the viewer to always go there, as the compressed version that is displayed with the text is definitely blurred on my monitor. the full version is what I am seeing ...

Thanks or stopping by and the comment. Harry will be back next week .. i hope ...

Mokey and Lexi have found something interesting outside the window. Arni is trying to join the party - but is there room for three?

I suppose we can look at it this way, since it's a cat thread, maybe it's OK if the image is a little fuzzy. ;) Yes, we're spoiled by DPR. I guess we can put that on bobn2's todo list. I really like Harry's treatment with the sepia but allowing his eyes and nose to come through in their original tones. I'll look forward to seeing more of him and his friends.

Of course there's room for one more. Someone needs to tell Lexi that he should stop it with the dance steps and make room for his brother! ;)

It's good to see the boys here! They can grow up along with DPRv. :)

Peanut, the self-proclaimed little emperor in a cat cafe, loves to punch other cats when he feels like it. In return, other cats punch him too. So his eyes were injured this week.

    Hope Peanut gets well soon.

I agree. I hope Peanut gets well quickly and has no lasting harm from his injuries.

My Mini-Me thinks that he is a tough guy too. He got pretty beat up in a fight earlier this year and had to wear this cone for several weeks, almost a month until his head finally healed up. Peanut's collar looks a little more bearable.

Greetings to everyone at the brand new home of Sunday Cat!

My first post, paws crossed that it works....
My favourite photo of our beloved Lord Trim, who first appeared in Sunday Cat many years ago.
He celebrated his 18th birthday in September last year and is doing well!

Looking forward to seeing all the other Sunday Cats, old friends and new...
    Best wishes to everyone,

Peanut got a little softer after the eyes were hurt. Luckily we have checked that there are no visible damages, only little irritation around the eyes. The collars prevents him from accidentally hurting his eyes with his paws. The collar feels comfortable, though a little large for him.

With her notched ear, somewhat scruffy appearance, and determined look on her face, she definitely looks like a cat you would NOT want to mess with. A truly wonderful portrait of a survivor.

Greetings and welcome back! While I have only been with the Sunday Cat! since 2016 (probably lurking in 2015), I learned of Lord Trim when I was perusing the thread from its beginning. It's great to know that he is still around and doing well. :) His portrait does justice to his title and well conveys his sense of dignity. He is one of the original Sunday Cats! (2007) www.dpreview.com/forums/post/26229058 Like you I hope to see more old friends, even the ones I only know from their photos, as well as making new ones. Thanks for bringing Lord Trim to the new home for the Sunday Cat! :D
