I think that black cats exist to challenge our cameras! They are so beautiful when their fur has that glossy sheen, and hard to capture well when they look that way. Lala is a great example of getting it right! :)
Thank you so much for your most kind welcome, and your good wishes and compliments for Lord Trim.
He is indeed a very dignified gentleman!
Also thank you for even finding my first DPReview post of Lord Trim and his beloved late sister Lady Gigi in 2007.
Looking back through many beautiful DPReview Sunday Cat threads this weekend made me feel so sad the site is closing.
All the precious memories and stories and the many ways in which our love of cats and photography enriches our lives.
I'm very thankful for this new home for the Sunday Cat, and with old friends and new, long may it flourish !
I have to admit the last few weeks I got much better at using the search tools on DPR so it was a snap to find your first visit to the Sunday Cat! I tried to go through each week of the 16 years and post highlights, but it just took more time than I had to get through them all. I do however have bookmarks for all sixteen years of Sunday Cat! If the site is archived, they may still be usable. I guess we'll find out sometime. In looking at all the posts though, I was also sad to see it go. Lots of stories shared there that will never be shared again. In my final post to last week's thread, I made my own tribute to those who brought me into the Sunday Cat! family, but will not be joining us here.
Absolutely agree that black cats exist to challenge our cameras - they are harder to capture, especially the gorgeous glossy sheen with the raven black tints as in Lala's fur. Lala is extremely handsome in this beautiful portrait, look forward to seeing more of him!
(P.S. Who was it on DPReview who used to say they liked photographing black cats in coal mines?)
That is wonderful you went through each week of 16 weeks of Sunday Cat to post highlights, and have bookmarks for all those years. Understandable it took more time than you had to get through them all! I saw and saved the last post of :-)) Sunday Cat! #807 and last April 2, 2023 ((-: where you had listed many links, and will look back through them too when I have time. Many thanks for doing that - it is a treat to see them again, especially beautiful Milo using a spoon - one of my favourites - you don't see many cats using cutlery!
In the 43rumors site, there is an announcement that DPReview assures that the content will remain available as an archive.
They will also allow more time to access the site and will keep publishing some more stories while they work on archiving.
This good news is a relief, and hope it will be a permanent archive, so all the valuable content won't be lost forever.
