Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the (impending) shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

Many thanks to all who posted last week. The Sunday Cat! has landed safely at DPRv, and your pictures and replies brought it to life! I hope it has a long life here at its new home.

Probably unnecessary, but I'll repeat this from last week just in case. Since we don't (yet) have threading like we did at DPR, I suggest that if you want to comment on a photo or a comment, hit the quote button within post that you are commenting about. If you want to eliminate some of the text or photo that's quoted, just delete from the reply what you don't need. However, make sure that the open quote tag enclosed in brackets [ ] is not removed: (left square bracket)quote="@ the poster's handle"(right square bracket) as well as the similarly bracketed closing quote tag: (left square bracket)/quote(right square bracket). Then it will be clear who and what you are commenting on (I hope!) If you want to post a new image, simply start with the reply button at the very top. Note that the image size limit here is 4M so be kind. :)

Here's Onion, the "Neko Tenchou" (Cat Store Manager) of a shop selling small goods about cats.
Unlike other cats who are waiting and meowing their owners for food, Onion works really hard.

You really have to look at the full size image to appreciate the detail here. They just look so alert and attentive. That moment when they were distracted from their own thoughts and occupations, such as looking out the window, to look your way. Very nice. :)

That's not sleeping. Onion is meditating. :)

This kitty certainly seems to be laying out an invitation to "pet me". Are they friendly enough to allow that?

I know, I'm late. I missed last Sunday. I was lurking around the Sunday Cat! over at DPR. But now I'm here. :)

Palmer is a little fuzzy, but that's OK since he's a cat. ;) I was playing with my old Pentax Takumar 85mm f/1.9 lens, shooting it wide open. Not much depth of field at that aperture or distance.

Mokey questioning the decision to be so close to such a large animal. We were fostering June for a time to see how she got along with a cat.
Both Mokey and June did fine but we never did trust June alone with Mokey. June is with a new owner and all is well with June

While Mokey looks doubtful about the whole arrangement, June looks like she would either like to play with Mokey or give him a big sloppy dog kiss. :D

We did not think June would hurt Mokey on purpose, but she could get a bit overenthusiastic playing with Mokey is what
we were concerned with. June is a wonderful doggie- but we are certainly cat folks- as we found out.

Very nice B&W photo, colored eyes makes it even more beautiful.
I like the curious or expectant looks of the cats.

Onion is just cute.
He does what all cats can: sleep in any situation.

Manually focused correctly on the eyes, a very good photo.
Palmer is always very well dressed.
Seems to be a good lens.

Yes, the 85 is a really good copy. I bought it a long time ago. It was one of the few times I purchased anything at a camera store, unless it was from the bargain bin! At that time I usually got my gear at pawn shops. It is the earliest version of the Super-Tak, made from 1962 to 1964.

Many of them like to be petted.
They are used to being fed by different people every day.
That is why they are not afraid of people.
