    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Engaging Kitty of the Week!
    Noelle

    Although @Dodie 's Noelle has crossed the Rainbow Bridge, thanks to a well done image she can still draw us into her magic. :)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #811 / DPRv #4

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    It seems like last Sunday was an eternity ago, it's been one of those weeks... So pop into the link above if you want to see my very belated comments. Thank you all for the wonderful images that filled the thread last week! It looks like the Sunday Cat! is settling in well at its new home. :) And now on to the kitties and the adventures they may bring this week.

    Helpful hints for using this site.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    This week comes some sweet moment.
    Stella was not invited to my photo shoot, but she showed up anyway 😂 The soft-focus look was achieve by holding a piece of plastic wrap in front of the lens.
    Thank you for selecting my photo of Noelle as "Engaging Cat of the Week". I appreciate it and I know Noelle would have been honored.
    Even though this kitty has seen some tough times, judging by the notch in his or her ear, the look is of confidence and not fear. It's good that Istanbul's street cats do not have to fear the humans in their world.
    Black cats are always such a challenge to photograph. It is a sweet photo nevertheless and the background itself is intrieging. :)
    I've only had one kitty who would groom another one. That was Cali. She had a kitty friend Sheila who she would groom. After Sheila died, Cali directed her attention to Peaches, who was a kitten from her next to last litter.
    Yes indeed, they are the masters of relaxation! The look on Annie's face in that second one really tells you all you need to know about how good it feels.
    The notch in the ear shows that the cat was caught and treated by a veterinarian.
    These cats are then unable to reproduce and receive the necessary vaccinations/treatments.
    The number of street cats is decreasing, but not yet to the desired extent (=0).
    That's interesting. Here they "tip" the ear, basically cut off the tip of cat's ear. Peaches' right ear was tipped, although her long fur made it less noticeable. There they notch it, but the purpose is the same, to signify the cat's reproduction status.
    Over here they also 'tip' the ear, Moppie (the "garden cat") also had such an ear.
    Though he was curious I never could get him to come live in the house, he really wanted to be outside all the time so I made him a warm place in the garden shed and he accepted that for a home, the little tramp.
    This one is a different pose though. I actually use two folders for my Sunday Cat! pictures, one where I stage photos to post and the other where I move the photos to once I have posted them. Of course now that we are at DPRevived and not DPR I'm free to repost any of them. :)
    At least Moppie recognized he had a good thing and enjoyed his private residence in the garden shed. ;)
    Sunday Cat! #813 will be late. I have an obligation this evening, so it will be more like 10 or 11pm my time.
