Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late, or rush home from a band concert two counties over like I did today. :) Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. Thread Manager's Corner:
Between long work hours, and time spent on framing and delivering my photos for the county fair, I was largely absent this past week. Things (I hope) will be quieter in the coming week so I can spend more time here with our furry friends. Here we go!

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

Coffee was peacefully sleeping in her cat sofa. She is 17 years old this year, and she is very cute.

She looks like she is having sweet dreams as she sleeps. :) She must be getting good care to have lived so long and look so well.

The sun's out and so are the cats. Finally warm enough to lie out...

The biggest eyes I've ever seen.

That kitty certainly has big, round eyes! They definitely have an impact, especially against the dark fur. I can't help but be reminded of robert j's cats. Allie in particular but also Blaze. Up until this image, they had the largest eyes I've seen, especially Allie. Here are some links back to them.

I really like that edge light on the second one, and the gloss to Stripey's fur. Enjoying simple pleasures!

Ozzie

Ozzie came to live with us when he was about 5 or 6. His person had died. Ozzie was at a rescue shelter about a month when we saw him. The shelter attendant described him as very depressed. He stayed in the back of his cage, was lethargic and had poor appetite.

I reached into his cage and picked him up. He was very quiet, offered little resistance and sort of tucked his head tightly under my chin and moved very little.

He brightened up very quickly after coming home and his real personality emerged. He was just this big, goofy, white fur ball, full of energy. He wasn't really aggressive, but very boisterous with a girl calico and a torty we brought home in the next few weeks. That eventually became a problem.

The first time he saw snow there was about a four inch accumulation on our front porch with the snow steadily falling and piling up. He ran back and forth with his front arms spread apart, "snowplowing" the stuff into mounds and joyfully jumping into them. Just a big, happy goofball.

Any shipping box that comes in, is her favorite.

Those certainly are big eyes! And they're accentuated by the delicate nature of his muzzle. A truly striking portrait of an otherwise ordinary-looking kitty.

What a lovely rescue story. Especially for giving Ozzie a chance when he might have just been left to languish in his sad state. His snow adventure sure shows that he is loaded with purrsonaility. :) And he's a good looking boy besides!

I think the attraction to boxes is one of the most mysterious features of our kitties. What is it about them? Jasmine is clearly comfortable there. Last night Palmer decided to settle down in a rather small box. He tried several positions to make himself comfortable but he just never got to nirvana like Jasmine! I tried to get a photo but by the time I got back with my camera he had exited the box. Nice capture here of a moment of bliss. :)

Palmer is now very much in the twilight of his life, having recently walked right up to the rainbow bridge before deciding to turn back for the time being. He enjoys being in his back yard, especially if it is sunny. I'm hoping for many more sunny days to come for him.

That's funny how Palmer tried to fit in the box. May be it was too small for him.

Here the box is rather small for Jasmine but she manages it. The feeling of being in a box is probably more important for her than the physical comfort of size.

I loved both photos. He's good looking.
I wish him happiness as long as he lives.

It's clear that Jasmine really enjoys her boxes and will do whatever it takes to get the best fit! :)
