Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

Thread Manager's Corner:
Once again I need to post early as I will be out until late. Just like our kitties. ;) Even though summer has not yet started, the slow down has, as is typical for the summer months when people are away from their kitties. But old images are as good as fresh ones so we look forward to what the week might bring. :)

Looks like somebody just finished up a good meal if the tongue is any indication. ;) Love the backlighting in this one with the tips of his fur making a a halo around his head. It seems to accentuate his surprised look.

In our household we call this a "stretch cat", something akin to a stretch limo. ;)

When Jasmine lies down like that, it's usually a trap! She gives a cute look but that's not an invitation to pet her. If anyone dares touch her, she will grab their hand before they know it :)

In this week's photo, she is watching the backyard.

This is Phoebe she is 8 weeks old and quite a handful already after needing around a day to find her feet., She has upset Fudge but Erni our 18 year old just shrugs off her attentions on the rare visit he is inside the house, he spends all summer outside and all winter inside. I have no idea how Phoebe got onto the handlebars of the bike, the cat laid down is Erni and fudge looking special as usual.

Many years ago, I lived in an apartment, with a bicycle and a kitten. That bicycle was her favorite climbing toy! She was on it a lot. Sadly, as I was in a no-pets building, I had to re-home her, but she was very happy there and I got to visit with her all the time.

I like that Phoebe and Fudge have something in common, they both have a black nose. :)

Erni is doing what senior kitties do very well, relaxing and soaking up the sunshine. I'm sure it feels good.

I just noticed -- despite the fur of her feet being white -- her toepads are all black! Cool!

Ugly Girl

Tara was caught by our municipal pound 6 years ago and had languished there for weeks waiting for someone to bail her out. But everybody seemed to think that she was really ugly from the photo of her posted in the Lost and Found Pets section of the newspapers and were not interested in adopting her. She was fast overstaying her welcome at the pound and was scheduled to be put to sleep if nobody wanted to adopt her. I was approached to help bail her out to save her life and that was how she came to stay with me.
She actually turned out to be a really beautiful tortie girl don’t you think?

Yes, she is good looking.

Tara's a fortunate kitty and a beautiful girl. With the way her face is marked I bet that if you look at her from her left side her face looks black, and from the other side she's tortie. The blended fur color on her body seems to be quite unusual. She's probably fascinating to look at.
