Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Acrobatic Kitten of the Week!

    Phoebe

@cosmicnode's Phoebe, "now that I'm up here it's only a little further to get THERE!" :O

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #818 / DPRv #11

    Thread Manager's Corner:
It is now officially summer in the northern hemisphere, with more daylight hours for our kitties to lie in the sunshine. :) As they lounge, they might also be contemplating the news from this past week that the ancestral home of the Sunday Cat! may continue to exist in its original forum. Hmm... what's a Sunday Cat! to do? Maybe just lie in the grass and smell the flowers.

    Recycled Cat

    Are cats recyclable?
Well Bennie here was ‘recycled’ from the streets and into my home back in 2017. So I guess they must be. 😻

Been missing all the wonderful Sunday Cat kitties. Took me a while to get registered here. A recent one of my dear Jasper:

Sunday Sun Worshipers. From left, Lexi, Arni, Mokey.
I came into the house from watering the garden and there they were lined up, not posed at all.

You're so right. Leo isn't little anymore, but he's still my baby. There's just something about that cat! Here he is, enjoying the warm weather:

And here's our third boy, Max, who we rescued off the street in our neighborhood. He is slowly but surely getting over the trauma of being homeless and is settling right in. He has a very sweet personality, too.

I guess Bennie read the label. It doesn't say anything about no cats! Here, I have a cardboard box that I use for collecting cans and bottles for recycling. When I put out the recycling for pickup, Palmer for some reason likes to sit in the now empty box. I haven't gotten a picture of him doing it yet, but I'm going to try to keep the camera handy the next time I empty it. He looks rather ridiculous in it since it's too small. Bennie at least has chosen one that appears to be somewhat roomy.

It doesn't look like he is very enthusiastic about being cradled. Is this Onion visiting us again?

She could even assist as a backyard bird (or maybe something else) alarm. When the tail starts switching back and forth you know there's something outside to look at! :)

Welcome! and glad you found us here. I was wondering about how Jasper and company were doing. It looks like the answer is, doing well. :)

Leo is lookin' good and obviously enjoying his access to the outdoors. I see that Jasper and Leo now have collars, I guess an accessory necessitated by their outdoor access. Does Max get to spend any time outdoors, or with his history does he just get to watch from the windows while his buddies lounge outside? No doubt you want to keep him safe, from himself if need be.

Yes, our guys got new red collars for Christmas. We used to put collars on Jasper and Leo only when they were outside, but now all three wear them full-time. It is difficult to see Max's because he is so fluffy. Through trial and error, we finally were able to cat-proof the back yard - at least as far as Jasper and Leo are concerned. Since the weather is warmer, they spend most of their time outside. I tried letting Max out last spring, but that rascal managed to escape within minutes. It was a long time before I was able to catch him again, and now he's in the house to stay. Amazingly, he shows no interest in going outside. We are thinking about getting a "catio," so that Max can be out in the fresh air. For now, though, he seems perfectly content to sit in the cat tree and watch the goings on outside through the window.

Onion is the 店長さん (Shop Manager) and he loves walking around or sleeping in the shop.
This took us a few shots for getting Onion looking at the camera. I cradled him for about 5 minutes.

Cats generally like sitting in empty cardboard boxes. I guess it protects them from draughts and breezes.

I used to make everyone wear a collar but Mr. Me (I seldom call him Mini-Me anymore) seemed to be able to extricate himself from it within minutes, and Palmer is now getting old enough that he doesn't feel much need to expand his horizons beyond his own yard. Mr. Me also has a chip, both inside and on his shoulder, so at least he's got that if he escapes. That chip on his shoulder gets him into too much trouble, so he is in permanent detention at home. ;) Mr. Me does still show interest in going outside but for some reason he is easy to capture when he does (he is now very skillful at opening the sliding screen door if it isn't latched!) I'm glad that Max has decided not to fight the idea. I always feel guilty when one cat can go out but the other can't. Maybe it's sinking in for him how much better his life has become. :)

Big and beautiful. That's what the small versions would like to be, and why we enjoy our miniature replicas of the full size version. :) They are such beautiful animals.

Here's one where Mr. Me tried one on for size. :)
