    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Recycled Kitty of the Week!

    Bennie

    @pschia's Bennie, who found safety and a good home after being left on the streets for "recycling" six years ago.

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Well, for me it was another work week submerged under multiple disasters coming from all directions. (i.e. hardware, software and poor judgement failures.) So I have been offline from here for the week. Thanks to all who keep it running for me while I am swamped! This week in my part of the world the summer suddenly come on with a vengeance and my kitties are laying low, sprawling on the floor for the coolest air and enjoying the canned food which I am serving cool from the refrigerator. How are the other kitties doing? Are they enjoying pleasant early summer days or bogging down in the heat as well?

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    The kitty's coat looks a little rough, but in that moment of mid-stride she is so elegant. The gleam of the light in her eyes just adds to it. Wonderful image. When is the book coming? :D
    Cool Cat
    Yup, it was really hot and humid the past few weeks here too, so much so that I got for Bodhi a cooling gel mat and he really enjoyed the cooling relief it brought him.
    I've used those too, but for some reason the gel in the ones I had seemed to diminish somehow, and they were no longer effective. I might try one again though because that is a good idea, even if it doesn't last more than a season or two.
    These gel mats don’t last long probably because they were getting microscopic punctures by the cats’ claws. I had noticed this happening in the mat I got for Bodhi.
    There is another type of cooling mats that does not contain gel. I think it is the fabric that is cool to the touch. Got one for Bodhi to try and he was really enjoying lying on that too. That is the thin pink mat in this photo. 😻
    That sounds like an even better idea! Fortunately it has cooled down considerably, about 25 degrees F from two days ago, so we have time to provision before the next heat wave.
