    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Purposeful Kitty of the Week!

    Street Cats of Istanbul

    Determined, but elegant in her stride, another of @Kumsal's wonderful images of the Street Cats of Istanbul. :)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #820 / DPRv #13
    Edit: Just caught my error from last week and changed to #820 from #819.

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    While this week's Sunday Cat! is in business, business has been admittedly slow the last week. It could be summer and summer vacations. It could be the migration back to DPR by some threads (the Weekly Image Thread and Lonely Benches among others) this past week. I'll continue to wait and see, but it's clear that this site has slowed down significantly since DPR's death sentence was retracted. Meantime, what have the kitties been up to? :D

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    The dinner bell rings for the kitties at 5pm. Lexi and Mokey are already lining up
    ready for the dinner bell to ring I forgot to mention- they are supposed to stay off the counter...you know how that goes.gray boyssmall.jpg
    Mr. Me has his tummy alarm set to go off at 6:15pm sharp! He's a little more forgiving in the morning but he does have limits on how long he will wait for breakfast. ;)
    Together, it is rather amazing how much Lexi and Mokey look alike even though they are unrelated. But I do notice that Lexi is showing some shadow stripes on his front leg while I don't think Mokey has any. Or at least I don't remember seeing any.
    And who is the mystery girl who has dropped by for her second visit here, or does she want to remain a kitty of mystery? :)
    Thank you for the wonderful images! These kitties seem to be taking advantage of the long grass to hide while they watch for prey. It might also be a cool place to be if the weather is warm. Or maybe it just feels good to be there! :)
    The light must have been very dim, considering how dilated Max's eyes are (and of course the ISO, shutter speed and f-stop hint at that as well!) That first one seems to say, "Oh gosh! Can't a fella be left alone!!!" At least he gets a reassuring pat in the second one. Actually it looks like he's pretty calm even with all the people there. I think Palmer would enjoy a large gathering, but I know that Mr. Me wouldn't. He would become invisible if that happened!
    I have to admit to bafflement here.
    The photos are fine, some of them great, but why are they here?
    Surely they should be in the pet photography section?
    Consistency. The Sunday Cat! was established in the Olympus SLR Talk forum in September, 2007 and remained there until the now cancelled demise of DPR in April 2023. That was more than enough disruption. If the founders of DPRv decide to do a forum consolidation based on use, we'll see at that time. For now, Tradition. :)
    I see this kitty from time to time when I take a walk around the local marina. I saw him yesterday when I was there, but this picture is from an earlier meeting. :)
    It's good to see the little girl again. :) She doesn't seem to be too afraid anymore. This image of her and her look at you reminds me very much of her mom.
    If you have more you'd like to post, this week's thread is here: :-)) Sunday Cat! #825 August 6, 2023 ((-:
