    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the shuttering of DPReview, the last Sunday Cat! was hosted there on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Engaged Kitty of the Week!

    Birdwatching

    She was engaged in bird watching (hunting) right up to the moment when @WhyNot's camera trained on her caught her attention. Cat 0 Bird 1. :)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is once again open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #828 / DPRv #21

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Once again, I got buried by the work week. This time with a new twist of the data center losing power and the ensuing recovery. Who knows what new "fun" episodes are ahead... Meanwhile, the kitties were here and I appreciate that. It's sad to learn that Fred has disappeared. We've only just gotten to know him. It's hard enough to lose them, but when they disappear, the not knowing makes it even harder. It was also a week of kitties past. It's amazing the deep impression they make on us, each with a distinct purr-sonality. :) And when they leave us, we have the memories, and fortunately for this group, the images to share as well.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    Hi,
    This is Molly. She was a Shop Cat. My wife is a screenprinter and has her production shop behind what once was her house. After we got married, we sold my house and bought a small farm. We expanded her SP shop and used the house as well. And Molly showed up somewhere along the way.
    She kept the rodents out of the shop and house as she could move between the two at will. And she was the official customer greeter. Even the ones allergic to cats took a moment to give her a pet. The other folks always wanted to take her home. She's another 17+ year kitty, who passed back in 2018. She's in the Kitty Spot on the back side of the pond here on the farm.
    Here is Molly laying on the hood where Mom parked between the two buildings. She's waiting for a customer to come give her a pet.
    And Fred is still MIA. I've been around to the neighboring farms and he's not been seen there, either. Many trips down to the river, too.
    Funny story about Fred. We would bring Molly to the farm on long weekends. She was in the house and we went outside. And...there was Molly by the cars! How in heck did she beat us out and we not see her pass us? Twasn't Molly. T'was Fred showing up to live with us! :)
    The agent said his client only had a few minutes out of his busy day for a photo shoot. I was ready- I walked into the celebrity's room, he was sitting on the bed, my Olympus OMD E-M1 with 12-40 f2.8 was ready, battery charged, freshly formatted SD card installed. Here are the results. After the shoot the celeb scampered off to play. I learned much, that Lexi could stay in one place longer than 30 seconds, I should have stopped the lens down for more depth of field. I should have asked for more money, HA!
    That pose of Molly's is certainly irresistible! I doubt that anyone would pass her by without giving a rubbie or two. :) Meanwhile, we'll keep hoping for Fred's return.
    The kitty's copper colored gaze makes one wonder what caught his or her attention so mightily.
    Craig,
    What a cat...! Is there any story to go with the pics?
    This is one of a handful of cats that live near my condo. I don't know who owns them, but I am pretty sure they are not strays. Occasionally, one will strike a pose. This guy is particularly photogenic.
    I love how the light around his head really lets you see the shape of his face. And the quizzical look adds to the interest here. Maybe he's questioning his decision to attract your attention. :)
    You have very colorful and attractive neighbors! :)
    Around here we're pretty much stuck with black and white.
