Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the announced shuttering of DPReview (which did not happen), the last Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. Thread Manager's Corner:
Thanks again for the wonderful images this week. Kitties past, kitties present, kitties in their new environment. :) While I was delaying this post, I reinstalled the video driver (no good, it still crashed) and then moved on to a newer one. So far no crash, but I'm going to wait and see if it has really stopped. I hope so. I haven't been able to use Lightroom for a while (continuous crashes). Meantime, let's see who drops by this week. :)

Actually in a nice setting, but what's happening with the rocks in the background is irritating to me.

I mentioned we had an addition to our family...Kitty. She's a cutie but refuses to come close enought to be touched. Has taken over the ground floor from Tiger and Stripey

This is Dolly. She was with us from 1990 to 2007. She was adopted as a kitten when I lived in NY State. Then I moved to NC in 1994 (with I've Been Moved). So, two homes here in NC. This shot in in the first house here in NC. We moved to the farm in 2004. She is in the kitty spot on the far side of the pond here on the farm with several other kitties.

That was an early shot with the D1H when it was new. You know, the mandatory Cat Shot with a new camera. :)

This kitty surely looks very proud of herself. :)

This was a rather odd moment. The kitty was on the rocks that lead down to the water at the local marina. The water was very still and it was at sunset so the water picked up the color of the sky at that moment. I have to admit I kind of like the way the flowers on the weeds almost matched the color of the sky reflected in the water. It's a straight from the camera jpeg as I haven't tried out Lightroom yet to see if it will work now.

I can't decide if that look says, "I own you now" or if it's saying "please admire but don't touch." :)

She looks so completely comfortable there. And of course, there is no higher purpose for our expensive photo gear than to shoot images of our kitties! :D

Well, I see she has moved in and taken over!

The fact that she so quickly settled into the house, along with her apparent youth, suggests to me that physical closeness is only a matter of time.

It's good that you could offer her a home, I've had strays come by that I wished I could have invited to stay, but was unable to. Nature is tough.

Big cats work I hope.

Please make sure you keep us up to date on her progress (& Tiger & Stripey's reactions). It's really uplifting to know that some ferals can find a loving home

I agree about the framing. The branches take you right there to the big kitty. :) Playing with the image in the browser though makes me think that taking away from the bottom would make the dark top stand out more and maybe even distract from the subject, so I lean towards the crop as it is. The light color at the bottom counterbalances the top.
