    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the announced shuttering of DPReview (which did not happen), the last Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Challenging Kitty of the Week!

    Mini Panther

    The ultimate photographic challenge is often defined as photographing a black cat in a coal bin at midnight. ;) Black kitties certainly challenge us with their monotone color! But the challenge this kitty set was conquered and his blackness does not hide the details from us. :)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #841 / DPRv #34

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    It seems that last week all the kitties, except for one, went into hiding! Mine included. :) We hope that now that Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping is over, they'll spend a little time here again!

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    @softmarmotte And of course after a visit to the vet she's even "more" likely to want to warm up to you. ;)
    At this point in his life, Palmer spends nearly all his time sleeping. This is one of the few moments when I got him awake enough for a photo. :)
    A little late to this, but this is honouring Noki, a cat we lost almost exactly 8 years ago.
    She was absolutely the weird cat of our household, including sleeping in positions like this apparently comfortably.
    Don't worry about being late, as you can see I am very late getting back to this this week.
    They are all so different. We remember them fondly, even if they have been gone for many years.
    It looks like she was a white cat. It seems that they can have an interesting personality, and are maybe even a little indifferent to trying to put up the usual dignified kitty front. ;)
    The detail in his image helps us to see how handsome he is. :) He looks very comfortable there, as if he is the perfect model posing for the camera, looking off in the distance and making one wonder what it is he sees outside the frame. :D
    Lucas looks a little like he's wondering, why were you away for so long! The little girl looks hopeful that something good is coming her way. :) It seems that they are staying close and not moving on like feral cats would. I guess they've decided it's too good for them there to want to go anyplace else! :D
