Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the announced shuttering of DPReview (which did not happen), the last Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Dauntless Kitty of the Week!

Neko, out in the AI infused cold and snow of imagination. :)

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Thread Manager's Corner:
Wow! Thank you for all the wonderful images and for making it so hard to choose just one to highlight this week. :D I am making some progress in getting my LR cross-platform setup completed so I hope to have some photos to post soon. Once I've got that going I'll need to work on becoming more Mac conversant. ;) Meantime, I hope the new year has been good so far to all the kitties and their staff!

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

    Hi,

Oh, Wesley looks like a cat a friend of mine had long, long ago. Named Max, though. Which is what brought this story to mind.

I worked with his owner, but this was my first visit to the home Max let him stay in. We all know how that goes! :P

Anyway, I sit down on the couch and my friend heads to the kitchen to get us something to drink. And Max jumps up on my lap.

My friend then proceeds to say: If I see the cat, leave him be, as he's anti social and will tear me up.

When my friend comes back into the room, I ask: So you have two cats?

Nope. I was just the first visitor Max liked.

I always enjoy it when the boys visit, as well as your desaturation technique that emphasizes the eyes. As they look at the camera, what are they thinking? The thought behind Max's blue eyes is for us to wonder about and only for him to know.

Two old cats having a talk about life. Amos on the left and Otis on the right sharing some spots of
sunlight. Sadly both have crossed the rainbow bridge within a short time of each other years ago.
In life they had a grand time with each other.
Seems kinda slow on the site, this one is from 2019 oldie but goodie.

Matching cats seems to be a feature of the household. :) It's nice that they could be friends. My two simply tolerate one another. Almost.

2023 was a rough year for Palmer. He contemplated crossing the Rainbow Bridge a couple of times. He's doing better now but has used up a few of his nine lives.

He likes to spend his time in the sun, and sometimes a little longer. Of course having a comfortable seat helps. :)

It's been a little cold lately so he's been keeping himself warm in some odd places.

Since almost all of my cats have been strays I don't really know when they were born, so they get assigned birthdays. Last week the 9th was Palmer's assigned birthday. He's 17 now. :D

    Hi,

We have one like this. Frisky. Pushing 18. We got her mid 2005 from the local county shelter. She was 2-3 months old then. So, we know about when her birthday is.

What had happened is, Daisy disappeared. We live down on the river. Most of the farmland around here is down along the river. When we couldn't find her on this farm, nor the neighboring ones, we thought she might have made it the four miles downstream to town. And so maybe picked up and taken to the shelter. That was not the case as we found her at the fishing spot a few days later.

Anyway, there was Frisky in the kitten cage. Sitting in the back corner with her head hanging down. My wife immediately said we just had to take that depressed kitten home with us. Ok. Works for me.IMG_20201020_144258.jpg

That's a pic of her with Fred. Of course, Fred has also disappeared and no luck finding him. Your think from looking at them that Fred is Frisky's kitten. Nope. But she surely acted like she was.IMG_20201020_144258.jpg

Here is another pic of Frisky with Daisy.

Daisy went thru her last year sleeping more and more. And always looking for warm spots. And now Frisky has been on that road for the past several months. So I am hoping she makes it to 18. Daisy made it two weeks short of 17. And that's been my experience with cats all my life. 17-18 years.

I guess Daisy forgot to put up the "gone fishing" sign when she left. ;)

I have to admit one of the things I really like about this website is the preview feature and the ability to edit links. I love that second photo! Using the edit and preview facility I was able to edit the link so it would show up. Daisy's look is priceless. "Oh, you want to take my picture? Is that where I should look? Should I wash up first?" And then Frisky in the back looking like, "OK, whatever. I'm ready whenever she is."
