Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the announced shuttering of DPReview (which did not happen), the last Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

ā€œOfficialā€ posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I donā€™t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

Last week's purrs, #849 / DPRv #42 A good one to revisit and see all the kitties in glorious monochrome!

    Thread Manager's Corner:
Around here lately there have been many days of clouds and rain, and not much incentive for image making, but all for the better where preventing drought is concerned. Palmer, oddly, very much enjoys being out in the rain in his little shelter, where he can watch it but not get wet from it. Are other kitties rain enthusiasts? Or is it sunshine or nothin'? Maybe we'll find out. ;)

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

My goodness- Arni knows how to look handsome. Sitting here looking like a million bucks,
probably searching for some female company. Sorry Arni, only Lexi and Mokey for
    entertainment.

    Hi,

Yeah. They do love boxes, don't they? :)

I always thought pet stores could sell boxes, empty boxes, different colours, sizes for the
    different tastes of cats.

If you bought one especially for that purpose, you can be sure that they would refuse to sit in itā€¦

I like Bennie's look, as if he's saying, "this is what we do so get over it!"

Misty looks more like, "oh no! I've been caught in the act!"

    Too true...

It reminds of a cat I had years ago. There was a local clothing store that used those translucent slightly stiffer plastic bags that wouldn't fold up too well. She would play with it and invariably open it up and get inside it, going crazy jumping around and rolling over amusing herself and us greatly.

There is more to the story of that cat which I'll save to another day...

I like how when they can't actually open it to get inside, the outline of the box is enough to make it a good place to curl up. :)

    Hi,

And then we have laundry baskets. With clean clothes in them as they return to the bedroom from the dryer. I swear Peanut here could detect the dryer stopping, without the buzzer, from the far side of the farm. And get back before I managed to get from the laundry room to the bedroom.

The only thing Mr Peanut like better was when I put things into the dresser drawer. He included himself, of course.

As you know from the other week, Palmer has discovered the warmth of clothes fresh, well still in, the dryer! They know what they like and they sure make sure that they get it. ;)

    Hi,

Yes. Yes they do known exactly what they like. :)

Here is one from this morning. Snowflake doesn't exactly fit. But that doesn't seem to bother her. And, being morning with outside temps below freezing here in February in North Carolina, the furnace is running. The hot air furnace. With a vent right there, which has the shortest path of ducting from the heat source. And a window facing East. And so add the morning sun.

    IMG_20240208_080916_582.jpg

Sorry about the crappy cell fone camera. This is what one gets from AT&T for free. They kicked my (own design from when I worked there) BlackBerry to the curb. So then they had to give me a replacement for free. They call it the Motivate. As far as I can tell, it's meant to motivate me to spending a large sum of cash for a better phone. Ha!

But I wanted to shoot her now, and not take the time to grab a real camera and take a chance that I'd wake her up

    Hi all,

A new cat, Bread, here. She is a very energetic, active little ginger girl that is interested in everything in this world.

By the way, tomorrow is the Lunar (Chinese) New Year of Dragon, and I wish everyone (of course, cats too) has a healthy and wealthy new year.

I have to agree. Those eyes are almost unreal. I'm sure it is part of being new and being surprised by things. And on top of it the poster in the background seems to echo the look.

I know what you mean about grabbing what is handy. So often by the time you go and dig out a real camera the scene you wanted to capture is gone. I miss my Blackberry too but I finally broke down and bought the iPhone SE in 2022 and have come to appreciate the pictures it can produce.

I love that Snowflake has not only determined that a good place to be is by the vent, but has apparently assessed which one puts out the most heat, and has morning sun to boot! Good job Snowflake!
