    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. With the announced shuttering of DPReview (which did not happen), the last Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Triptych Kitties of the Week! (Plus 1)

    Three+1

    The omnipresent street cats of Istanbul. At least they appear to get along, unlike these triplets. ;)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

    Last week's purrs, #851 / DPRv #44

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    We're a little late today. I had a hard time deciding. (Love this one too.) I was hoping to get some images ready to post today but I'm tangled up in doing my first backup for the new version of Lightroom and spent all of my time (more to come) on that! (Trying to figure out what the 67k files were that were new. Turns out they are almost all LR previews...) Hopefully I'll make more progress soon! Meantime, the kitties are waiting for their closeups. ;)

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    Another Istanbul street cat, it must have felt threatened, hissed and show her teeth. She could have jumped on me, I feel lucky. But it was a beautiful cat, I don't know it must be a special breed.
    First time posting on this thread. So here is Susu our first Maine Coon who travelled all over Europe with us. He sadly passed away a couple of years ago.
    Coffee enters her 18 years old this year. I think her Dad and Mom have already prepared for the worst, and she just ate 50g of food for her lunch yesterday. 😀
    By the way I was trying to capture with a slightly tilted background. 😂
    Hi,
    Keep on keeping on there kitty. Our Frisky is almost 19 now. She's frail and I've been keeping her going with a high protein wet food for the past year. Only issue is, she eats only a little at a time. So I have to feed her 6-8 times a day. That means Mom and I cannot take any trips together where we are gone more than a few hours.
    Mom is heading to Florida soon for an arts and crafts event (she's a vendor). Normally, I'd go and shoot some more lighthouses with my medium format rig. Make a week out of it. But, I can't. I have to stay home and take care of Frisky. Oh, well. I'm sure the lighthouses will still be there later.
    I know what you mean about having to manage a kitty's care. Palmer had multiple episodes last year where he nearly lost his life. In the last couple weeks we visited the veterinary school for a more thorough assessment. He's struggling with congestive heart failure. He's got some new meds now to help but they have their own schedule which I am still trying to figure out how to manage. (No food three hours before / one hour after and such.) He likes to eat only small amounts of food at a time, meanwhile Mr. Me likes to eat any and all food he finds out, so I have to stand nearby to discourage Mr. Me and pick up the dish as soon as Mr. P has got his fill (for him, about 4.5oz / 125g a day over many feedings). But you do what you can to make their lives as good as they can be at the end. So a big nod of appreciation to the kitty moms and dads who are taking such good care of their senior family members! :)
    Something about the tilt makes it feel like she is about to take a leap up to whatever It is she is looking at. Nice effect!
    The kitty has certainly hung out the welcome! sign and shows a desire for attention. Very comfortable and relaxed looking. A reflection of mutual trust. :)
    It certainly looks very cozy. :) That's one thing that I believe you can count on with cats. They don't do something that isn't comfortable. ;)
    That first one is certainly a sweet remembrance of Susu. The framing just draws you into his face. In the second it looks like he found a "safe" place to be. :) I had one kitty who was willing to travel but in my experience that has been quite rare. I could see though that a Maine Coon, with their easy going temperament, might be a good traveler.
    I would say that this little kitty sure has a lot of enthusiasm topped off with curiosity! ;)
    She definitely doesn't look too pleased! I like how tidily she has her paws arranged, and the light from behind gives her something of a halo. Too bad she wasn't interested in showing her best self to the world. ;)
    I very much enjoy seeing Milo with his so interesting ears! I'll look forward to future (kitty past) visits by him. In this one he looks like the camera caught his attention while he was doing something else. His expression seems both a bit surprised but also inquisitive, as if he is waiting for you to ask a question which he is ready to answer. Definitely a warm fuzzy feel here. :)
