Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! landed here at its new home on 9 April 2023.

    Recumbent Kitty of the Week!

    Kitty

Kitty, who hears music in her dreams. :) But does she know she's dozing in a...dog basket? :O

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! All cats, all cameras welcome. Images from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge where nice comments abound and only constructive criticism is given when it's requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for business. :D

Thanks to everyone for the images, and comments last week.

Though small in size, the imprint they leave on our lives is huge.

Palmer's last day was yesterday, May 20, 2024.

This is an early photo (2014) where Palmer actually posed long enough for me to manually focus an old Leica 50mm f1.5 lens. :)

This is one of Palmer's best holiday photos, shot with the 14-35.

I tried many, many times to get photos of Palmer walking, running, active, but most were failures. This is one of the few that worked.

This one was taken a day after Palmer nearly died, the weekend of May 13 last year. Unlike my other kitties who endured (expensive) emergency hospital visits and then died a few days later, Palmer would go on for another year. Turns out there was a lot of lion in that compromised heart.

A couple of days after the last image. He was recovering very nicely.

Even less than two weeks before his passing, Palmer's inner being still shown through.

Palmer's last afternoon was spent outside gazing over the backyard and the recently emerged tiny flowers that grace it.

Palmer is forever at rest now. ? 2007 to 20 May, 2024.

The news of Palmer's passing is sad indeed.
Know that you gave him everything he needed
to live a long and loved life.
Now you must be strong to know the hurt will
pass and in time Palmer will forever warm
    your heart with his love.

    Very sad news.
It is very difficult to say goodbye to a beloved family member.
I hope that the memories of good times spent together will ease your pain.

    Hi,

Sorry that you have to go thru the same as I did only a week later.

Frisky also eked out another year. In her case, she was slowly losing the ability to absorb nutrients from her food. So that led to special food and supplements. We didn't think that would work for as long as it did.

That extra year is precious, I know.
