    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Lovable Kitty of the Week!

    Thomas

    Thomas, with the look of love. :)

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule, especially this time of year when the light is at its best. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #886 / DPRv #79

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Last week we saw kitties at some of their favorite activities, sun worshiping and stealing sofas. ;) But in doing so we also shared images of kitties present and kitties past. They win our hearts like Thomas, and then leave too soon, although Micio just closed the door on too soon. :) Looking forward to this week's visitors and the stories they may have to share.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    Last Warm Days
    October, and we can still sit out on the balcony and enjoy the sun, before the cold weather arrives.
    Still missing some fur, after the operation.
    She certainly looks guilty, but I don't see what she's guilty of.
    Hi,
    Yeah. Not much act-ion out of most of the cats in pics around here!
    I love the strange poses cats have when they sleep.
    Like us, our kitties suffer from the indignities of health care too, like having their fur shaved. My Palmer had that happen to him a couple of months before he passed. It was so near the end that even though he lived for a while after being shaved, the fur just didn't grow back. He had too little left for that. That second image with his paw stretched showing his claws, reminds me a lot of Palmer when he'd reach out like that. So hard when they go. I'm glad that Micio still has most of his nine lives intact and time to savor those warm days!
    Does it ever make you wonder how a creature that can operate in near total darkness can also worship the sun? :)
    She certainly does look like getting photographed was the very last thing she expected!
    Yes, their active moments are so wild that they are had to capture, and their inactive ones (that make up much of their day) makes them an easy target, or at least up to the point when there is a focus beep (I have mine turned off now), the sound of focusing motors or the ultimate abuse, the operation of a shutter! Then they go into active mode. Or at least, that's what happens here.
    One thing we can always be certain of...if it didn't feel good, they wouldn't do it. :D That blissful look sure says that she is enjoying herself!
    I'm going to head out to capture some light before it is gone. Will post the new week a little later. :)
