Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Entreating Kitty of the Week!

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Thread Manager's Corner:
It was nice to see so many visitors last week. This week we come to that special time of year for black cats, Halloween. It's both a hazardous time but also a special one for our monochrome kitties. Perhaps a few will find their way here in the next few days. :)

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

    Hi,

My monochrome kitty is white. But, if I shoot her with film and then light table the negative, she'd be all black! ;)

Miss Snowflake seen lounging on her human mother's freshly washed and dried clothes. So,.no wondering where that white cat hair came from!

Miss Snowflake proving the theory that opposites attract. White cat + dark clothes. ;)

In all the hub bub of the last few weeks I lost track of a special day, that is until Mr. Me's health care insurance provider reminded me of it. October is his birthday month! Actually, I don't know when he really was born. I just take the vet's estimate of age and the date of the first office visit and work back from there. :) In the case of Mr. Me his October visit and approximate age fit well enough for me to designate his birthday as October 3, 2015. The reason for that date was that it was the day that I had to have Cali put to sleep. Cali's fur was medium long soft, so, so soft! Mr. Me's fur is the same, so I kind of take him as an extension of Cali's legacy. (Although not in any way shape or form are their personalities similar!)

Mr. Me however is not upset that I missed his birthday. In fact, he was too busy dozing to remember it himself. We'll try not to forget next time when it's the big 1 - 0! :)

    Hi,

We aren't sure just how old Snowflake is, much less her birthday. She came to us from a neighboring farm that does large animal rescue (think horses, mules, goats not cats and dogs). Someone left her there and she didn't like that and took up residence under one of our small barns.

My first image of her is from October 2017 and it's a fleeting shot outside on the back deck of the farmhouse. She hadn't come inside yet and had been here six months before she even ventured onto the deck. It might have had something to do with the dish of dry cat food I left on the deck.....

    Heh. Bribery works!

Anyway, the neighboring farm was just as happy she was over here and so we got a Free Kitten,.even though she had to be two years old at that time.

So, I'm going to call it Spring of 2015 and that'll be Good Enough.

Our three new ones are early to mid April of this year. The folks at the farm we got them from had only that approximation for when the stray mama cat had them under their porch.

Such is the way of things on farms.

Tara is the other cat that lives in my bedroom with Miki. Like Miki, she has not shown the slightest interest in leaving the bedroom since the day she was adopted from the municipal pound some 7 years ago. But she doesn’t like to stay on the bed unlike Miki. So recently I got her a donut tunnel cat bed and she seems to like it very much. These days she could be found either sleeping on top of it or inside it most of the time.

I told the cat it was time to come in.

    This was her response.

    Sheesh
