    Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Uncomfortable Kitty of the Week!

    Unnamed kitty

    You, up there! I'd like to have a word with you about your pointing that big white thing at me!! 😒

    ~~Image by @Craig

    As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

    “Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

    Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

    The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #895 / DPRv #88

    Thread Manager's Corner:
    Well, it was another week where I was entirely absent, which is not what I wanted to do, but events got the better of me. Mr. Me had a huge setback in the treatment of his eye problem, perhaps having become sensitized to one of the eyedrops which caused him to rub his eye and seriously injure it. So now we have different eyedrops, more pills, and a standing order for pill pockets and kitty treats to use in helping him recover. ;) He also gets to wear a collar to keep him from rubbing his eye again. Not ideal for nice kitty portraits. :( The shared images and stories from last week and to come helps to brighten the atmosphere here.

    ~~~ Kim
    Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.
    Hi,
    Update on the three kittens. A rather sleepy morning here on the farm l.
    Jack is in the tube on the tower
    IMG_20241215_091317_208.jpg
    Doris is on mom's lap.
    IMG_20241215_091252_202.jpg
    Sammy (Samantha) is also catching some Zzz's.
    Sam is the most interesting cat I've ever had. Her markings keep changing. I've looked some stuff up and apparently she has an enzyme that causes the cooler parts to darken. Unlike the usual cats with this trait, hers are grey and not brown and also develop the tabby pattern of her brother and sister. And it grows ever cooler around the farm these days. So we wonder what she will look like come Spring....
    Even kittens need some rest in order to have the energy to create mayhem! ;)
    I guess Sammy is a Lynx Point Siamese type. Here's a little about that at Catster, which back in the day of a printed magazine was known as Cat Fancy. www.catster.com/cat-breeds/Lynx-Point-Siamese/
    Hi,
    Yep. That's Sammy, all right. All three are siblings, but it didn't look that way at first. We know, of course, since they came from under the same farmhouse porch. And none of them look like mom, who is black and white. No one ever saw dad, of course.
    Here they are the day they moved from that farm to ours. :) Doris, Sammy and Jack. Doris and Jack still look the same only larger. Sammy has been changing all along.
    I'd forgotten about those early images. Yes, Sammy's following the path of pointed Siamese, starting out with little color and developing it over time. Have fun watching your special beastie grow up! :) The perfect opportunity to document the changes over time too. ;)
    Miki had celebrated her 8th adoptversary with us this week on 14 December.
    How fast time flies when life is good.
    8 happy years has come and gone and many more to come for her, I hope.
    I was given a Christmas Box by a happy client. Micio decided to climb into the box and take a nap.
    But, of course! Isn't that what a box is for?
    I recently learned that the cardboard box is in the Toy Hall of Fame. Kids and cats know a good thing when they see it!
    Love the colors of this kitty. There are so many ways they like to blend their orange, black, white and grey colors. :)
    This is what makes the gift of photography such a wonderful thing. While gone you can still share Susu with us now. That brilliant coloring is so irresistible. :)
    Boxes are catnip to most cats! ;) I like how in this second one he's sitting up and looking like, "Oh, you want to take my picture? Let me sit up properly and pose for you. I think I'm ready now." :D
