Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Congenial Kitty of the Week!

    Friends

The best of friends. :D So fitting at this time of year.

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #896 / DPRv #89

    Thread Manager's Corner:
Thanks all for the very lively Sunday Cat! last week! It gives one a warm and fuzzy feeling to connect that way at the end of the year. :D And now the biggest holidays are immediately before us. For me I have already received the gift of Mr. Me getting better. Unfortunately, his eye problem will always be with him, but now that the cause is identified it can be treated and managed, bringing hope he won't encounter issues so serious again that would threaten the loss of an eye.

To all the kitties and their admirers, best wishes during this holiday week! I hope you that you share the gift of photography with the people you love and here with the people who love kitties. :)

I probably made this a little harder than it should have been by generating such as small image (1600px on the long edge and 72dpi).

    Find the Kitty

Reposting here for Stan to reveal the kitty's location. ;)

Coco, in the hug of her father, passed away at about 9 years old (from Jan 2016 - Dec 2024).
Now she is an angel with freedom to do anything and is free of disease and pain.

Always so sad when they pass away.

Get another cat, they bring so much to our lives.

It's sad to learn of Coco's passing, especially at this time of year. She had to have been a good natured and easy going kitty to wear those rabbit ears so gracefully. :) It sounds like while she was only 9, the early release was a blessing. We were fortunate to have spent some time with her. Thank you for sharing her with us.

    Hi,

Kitty is black on a dark night. Almost under the rear of the panel van. Look between the rear tires and the far back of the van. I name him Smudge because he looks like a smudge on a negative (I know this is digital and many folks have no experience processing film).

The photographer casts a shadow in the lower left corner of the shot.

The trailer stumped me for a moment. What in heck is on that thing? Then I read the sign on the side of the van panel. A glass company. So that's a glass rack on a trailer.

One small correction, you probably meant to say the photog is on the lower right! Otherwise all right! Nice job, especially since the kitty is pretty fuzzy in this reduced jpeg. ;)

Going through some old pictures, I found a picture of Tiger, our first cat. I was taking the car out of the garage, and a kitten jumped into the car. She was with us for Fifteen years. She hated our cleaning ladies, and had to be put in the attic on cleaning day. With us she loved sleeping next to us on the sofa.
