Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Intense Kitty of the Week!

    Micio

Micio, the power of their gaze, the inscrutability of their thoughts.

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Last week's purrs, #902 / DPRv #95

    Thread Manager's Corner:
Happy Groundhog Day! :) If you don't have any groundhogs to photograph, then a nearby feline will do. :D I still don't have my primary computer restored, so I'm on my oldest one today, a little number from 2010. At least it still works! The primary one may get a reinstall of Windows or a new one of Linux, if I can get it to boot at all. If not, it may just get the boot and I'll copy my files from the two drives in it when I remove them... I have a nice batch of new photos to work on, so I may decide I'd rather do that then try to revive the dead machine at all. I hope everyone else is doing better digitally!

I was wondering if there might have been Tweety Birds behind the window or something else to grab his attention. Viewed 1:1 you can see the look on his face in the reflection and I am guessing he is looking at himself, wondering about that other cat, as animals so often do.

I also have to say, from your Street Cats of Istanbul series, that they all look very healthy and well cared for. This guy is a wonderful specimen and I would be proud to be his owner...

    Hi,

I have a new (to me) camera coming. And it's Winter here but no snow the make it pretty. Prepare for a lot of test shots featuring cats....

    Just fair warning you know!

Or maybe he's just vain - he has a right to be!

This cat wanted to be let in and was quite loud.
An older gentleman came out and told us that he was caring for a very young cat in his office and that this cat was attacking her.
    The efforts were unsuccessful.

    Cat in the box

Taken some time ago. Micio loves boxes, and the kitchen.

That's quite a tail (pun intended!). This image really captures his determination to get back in. His intensity is just undeniable. Excellent image, and the story behind it as well.

Yes, for some kitties boxes are like catnip! ;) Mr. Me likes to climb into them enough that I keep a couple around for him. One that he is especially fond of has been dubbed Fort Mee. The other one is a long narrow box that I sometimes find him in when I can't find him anywhere else. Whenever a new box comes into the house, the inside of it is always inspected. :)

It's good that Niusia could enjoy some live entertainment out the window, but it looks like at least one of the visitors had some objection to being watched! :D

Not sure if the kitty is standing in for a lamp or a potted plant. ;) In any case he doesn't seem to appreciate being observed. Or maybe the watcher was just surprised at being the watched. Since we don't get that detail here, I'll assume it's the 150-400 again. I'm in awe of the detail that you can get from it. I'm also in awe of Kumsal's images, this week's Leica image especially. I don't see myself getting either the lens or a modern Leica, although I do own a Leica, a IIIf. :)

It is indeed the 150-400mm. The only lens you will ever need. 20 April 101.jpg
