Welcome all to the Sunday Cat!, a weekly gathering of image makers on a subject of mutual interest, our feline friends. The Sunday Cat! has appeared each Sunday, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK started the thread at DPReview on 23 September 2007. Successive thread managers have been John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J again (with an assist by StanTsui) and since September 2016, former lurker, me. When DPReview was threatened with closure in March 2023, the last regular Sunday Cat! there was hosted on 2 April 2023. After taking a leap of faith, the Sunday Cat! found refuge here on 9 April 2023.

    Newest Kitty of the Week!

    Callie

Callie, new visitor and with time as she warms up to her new home, we hope a regular visitor. :) Greetings Callie!

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your pictures and stories of your feline companions with us."

“Official” posting time is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, posting time may vary to accommodate my schedule. I'll try to post a message if I know I will be very late. Anyone anxious to start the new week is free to do so. But if you do, please PM me so I don’t accidentally double post.

Come one, come all! Remember, all cats, all cameras welcome. Digital cats or silver halide cats, cats of metal, or cats of the wilderness. Big cats, small cats, kittens and their toys. Cats of pen and ink, cats of brush and canvas, from any time, any place. Let the Sunday Cat! be a refuge to enjoy and marvel at the magic of cats, where positive comments abound and constructive criticism is given if requested.

The Sunday Cat! is now open for mischief. :D

    Thread Manager's Corner:
It's been a quiet week, but then it seems that when the weather starts warming up, and spring break is in the air, the kitties disappear for a bit. No worries though, they will be back. So we'll begin the week in anticipation of those visitors. :D

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

    My Old Shoes

Micio, likes to take a nap sometimes, with my old trainers as a pillow.

    There's something so-o-o attractive about the aroma of a well-worn shoe . . .

    Hi,

Callie wound up inside the house last night. So, we have progress.

We have cat doors and I set then to In Only at sunset. So, once they come in, they stay in until after breakfast. So, Callie wandered in for a bit but then was unhappy she couldn't just go back out. So I had to be a doorman for a cat. ;)

I've never had a cat door on the house, but I do have one on the shed where I used to house some kitties when there were too many to have them all inside (plus the getting along issues of course). For a time Palmer was a shed resident. He seemed to have figured out how to unlock the cat door, so one time I put a heavy paving stone on the other side after I locked him up for the night. Well...the next morning he was out and somewhat annoyed that it had been so difficult to get the door open that night! Doorman or not, when there's a will, there's a way. :)

Loving self-care seems to be an important part of being a cat. :)

I love the contrast here of this, by appearance, battle tested kitty surrounded by seemingly carefree human activity. Worlds apart, but within the same frame.

He looks like a seasoned fighter.
